Every year during X-mas we go to WDW - The airfares from NY to MCO are outrageously expensive for that time of year -- I think last year I booked in June/July and got a great rate on Delta Song -- I checked the websites for both Delta and American - and most of the seats, if not all, are still empty...By now, last year and the year before, the airfares were low and gradually went up the closer in time we got to December. Everyday I go on Kayak or use Sidestep, but still nothing - for 4 people it's about $1500 - too much, last year I paid under $1000 for the same days...Anybody have an inside scoop on when (and if) the airlines discount over the summer for X-mas....

Missing Disney ....big time! : :sad2:

Dont know when they specifically discount for christmas.. but I called my TA the other day as Im thinking of surprising my 7 yr with a trip to dw for 3 days and she said that its really cheaper to do my own airfare than to go thru disney as they just mark it up.. she mentioned to check it online on Wednesdays and late at night as that is when you will see the deals..

Just thought Id pass on the tip.. I plan on checking it this wednesday

I feel the same way for flights I'm looking for the week of Thanksgiving. It's absolutely outrageous!! I keep hanging on and hoping the rates will go down a little!! The cheapest flight I can find so far out of Michigan to MCO is just under $400!!! I have never paid over $260.

Good luck.

Thanks for the secret tip -- Wednesday is the day I'm hoping to find lower fares -- if not, I will set my internal alarm clock and wake up and check at 3 a.m. -- but how do they know, what part of the country you live in - with the time difference or for that matter - where in the world you are logging on....

Good luck fellow holiday travelers!
Still missing Disney big time :goodvibes

This used to be true... Don't count on it anymore. Computers are not programmed to do daily rate adjustments. Sometimes you do get rates that are good for a few hours, but things change very quickly! (Back when they used to do this, my grandfather worked for Delta. changing rates was such a HUGE undertaking it was once a week)

Also, lately I have seen several posts where Disney was undercutting everything else on airfare so be sure to at least ask!
