In checking for airfares from Raleigh to Orlando for the middle of October, the best I am finding right now is a non-stop for $117.50 per person on Midway. With all the airfare wars going on right now, is this really the best I can do? I used itasoftware.com to check prices. Schedule is somewhat restricted since son will be driving in from college that morning before we head to the airport that afternoon, so I don't think that bidding for airfare would be an option.

Should I book this now or or hold off a bit?

I would recommend checking Southwest's website, since I'm not sure if itasoftware even lists Southwest's fares at this time, and even if they do, you cannot be assured that what they display is accurate for the exact flights you choose. If Southwest's fare isn't lower, I would pay what you are finding now through Midway because that is a good fare.

USAir is having a sale but only thru their website. Go to their site and put that your dates are flexible.

Go to Southwest.com and check their Florida sale fares. They fly about 4 flights daily to MCO. I just booked Labor Day weekend for my spouse and me and got two roundtrips for $231. They are a no-frills airline, but I just want to get there! Their sale prices are unbelievably low. Good luck.

RweTHEREyet, I am in a similar boat...but we're travelling in November. That price is the best I've seen since I've started looking, but we are still holding off. Last year, we got Midway flights for $88/person RT from RDU to MCO. I'm feeling pretty certain that these current prices are going to drop again.

We can't take the Southwest fare because there is only one flight on our departure day and it gets in too late. (We've got Cirque tickets and I'm not willing to cut it close.)

$117 is a good fare...but, personally, I'm going to gamble that they will go lower. Hopefully I won't get burned.

Good luck!!
