We have planned a Dec. trip and already told the kids we are going... and now I am finding that airfare prices are about $100 more per ticket than the last time we flew! I am starting to worry..the trip is scheduled for the week before Christmas.. do you think the prices will go down before then..also, is it safe to just use Sidestep to check or do I need to check the individual airlines??
Thanks.

IMHO I would check the sites such as orbitz, expedia, cheap tickets, travelocity along with the airlines. At first had good luck with Sidestep in being cheaper for price quotes. But I then found that the sites above were still cheaper even though Side step checked them. Good luck!! We are going at the same time and I found pretty decent prices.

tdelano, it's anybody's guess as to what airfares may be at any given time. I have seen Delta's fares vary as much as $50 or more within a 5 minute period. You just have to catch it at the right time. Search the major airlines and online agents at least 2-3 times daily and you may just get the fare that you can deal with.

I think alot of us are spoiled with the low airfares that we have experienced in the last couple of years when the airlines have been trying to regain the public's flying confidence since 9/11. I know that in my geographic location the fares have changed considerably. The same identical flight we last flew to WDW in 2002 is now almost $150 more. Just keep checking, checking, and checking until you find one you can live with.

If your trip is in Dec. you should be able to find some fairly decent discounted fares but bear in mind that they may change instantly.

Have a wonderful trip:wave:

I wouldn't count on the prices dropping. There are less flights with more people on them. Check all the discount sites and your airline because sometimes the airline has the best prices.

I'd suggest trying every source available. I always look at Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, etc... and then try the individual airline websites. The airlines sometimes run daily or even hourly fare specials (I happend on an hourly rate through Continental that saved me LOTS on our upcoming trip).

TTFN!
