After watching the debates tonight and seeing the battle ground states,(Florida & Minnesota) do you think that there is a possibility that after the frenzie of flying before the election that the airlines will have some good deals beginning in Nov. ? Just a thought that crossed my hopeful mind.

That would be nice, wouldn't it. But I was sure that there was something in NWA's charter about screwing folks from Minnesota, so unless they start getting some meaningful competition, I expect they'll keep doing so. Just think of those high fares as NWA's way of saying "thanks" for those times MN taxpayers have bailed them out, and for paying for the improvements to MSP terminals which will make it even less convenient to fly other airlines.

Of course, now that Delta has started a new initiative capping fares for those flying out of Cincinnatti, with the thought that maybe more ppl in the area would fly them, maybe NorthWest will wake up.

I'm not sure there's much of a correlation there. . .

I had to laugh at this one--DTW is in the same boat with NWA. The rates are almost always much higher than others out of DTW. Now, if you take a connecting out of Toledo to DTW to MCO, the rate drops by over $80! Taking that commuter somehow makes flying NWA more affordable AND it's less of a hassle since you are flying from a small airport into Metro. All that being said, NWA's rates were still higher out of TOL than Spirit (DTW) and ATA (TOL).

It used to be that Delta was very reasonably priced out of TOL--maybe it will be again someday. We always enjoyed our flights on Delta out of TOL to either CVG or ATL. The folks at Delta were, for the most part, very accommodating and friendly. Further, they never lost our luggage, unlike NWA which has misplaced it every time--even on a straight shot! Can you tell we are not very pleased with NWA right now? ;)
