Trying to fly out of Memphis or Nashville and the rates are higher than usual.Went on Spring first week in April and flew out of Mem to MCO for $190. Have reservation at Royal Pacific 09/30-10/07.
Is there any special events going on?

Rates are higher for me. We are going down week of 9-OCT for a conference.

Tipton and Shelby County schools (two biggies for Memphis area) are on fall break October 9-13 (MO-FRI).

I used points on one leg and paid a not-too-bad/not-too-good price for the other using Delta out of MEM. Southwest only has one non-stop right now and it was high as well as their flights with connections.

I can say in my experience - we travel somewhere every October - the prices have been near the same for the past 3 years. I can't compare to other months though. :)

I'm paying more for my flight this October than I ever have, and I've flown to WDW in October multiple times. This is the first time I've had to pay over $300 round trip.

We usually go in November but moved to October this year due to fall break. Fares were the highest I've ever seen in 15 years of going.

Columbus Day weekend starts, always busy

I'm told many schools in the south on break first/second week of month

I've been watching Frontier out of NJ/PA and it's fluctuated quite a bit. Could have gone as cheap as $70RT so far, but not the dates I wanted. And it goes up significantly from there. I did October with a last minute deal year before last for $60RT. Pretty sure those deals will come up again.

Out of O'hare? We are paying almost the exact same as we did in October 2014. Maybe October is just always high and I didn't realize. :)

We have some family coming with us and they fly out of Indy or Louisville and those flights have been nuts. Our flight from Chicago to MCO was okay, but still haven't bought the return yet.....rolling the dice on that one coming down a bit. I've usually paid around $200 round trip from Chicago but this year is over $300. I could get it lower by taking a 6am or 9pm flight or a Spirit flight...but none of those are very appealing options.

We are flying out of Nashville on Sept 29th to MCO with return date of 10-7 with Southwest. Our pricing was $270pp round-trip which is higher than we have paid in the past. We typically see $200 round trip. I checked these same flights over the weekend and it's up to $772 per person.

Yeah, we snagged the 6 am flight. I like to fly out first thing. :)

I guess the best I can do is Memphis to MCO 09/30 to 10/07 $342 nonstop roundtrip. Should I wait or is this the best im gonna do?

I booked my October flights with southwest the day they opened. Used 6614 points both ways (So maybe between $100 and $120 each way?)for nonstops, on a Thursday and a Saturday. They are a lot higher now. There are a lot of times we can't plan that far ahead and have to pay more.

Yep, opening fares, and never as low. But, around the same as last year though.
