There's 7 of us going on a Disney Cruise in January. As it stands, we're driving but doesn't stop me from keeping an eye out for airfare. Anyone score great airfare for Jan from YYZ or BUF? Right now it's about $179 each way from BUF, looking about $2100 for all of us - anyone have insight when it may drop or did I miss my chance to get a great rate? I know no one has a crystal ball, but for those who travel in Jan when do you buy airfare?

We usually travel from Pearson, although we never traveled in January, but have traveled May, August, December, March the best rates we usually get is about $310. We have flown from Detroit and airfare is usually about $185. I don't think you missed your chance at all, they always have sales on, you are still pretty far out from your trip. We have a trip planned out for December and we probably won't book until October or November.

ETA , I never mention that we usually book Monday or Tuesday dates to fly out, its a bit cheaper that way

What day are you looking to fly? Jetblue just released their schedule this week until January 3rd. Coincidentally, we leave on a Disney cruise on the 3rd (my birthday!) as well, but we are flying into the World on December 31. When the fares first came out they were $139, then I checked yesterday and the same direct flight jumped to $179. Today it is down to $159. The same direct flight on Jan 2 or Jan 3 is $124.

I would suggest you keep checking. Last year in early December my flight started at $119 and eventually came down to $89. I kept calling back and got the appropriate credits refunded to my account.

I just wanted to chime in here-although I am a HUGE fan of flying out of Buffalo and really have not used Pearson in the last 5 or 6 years, one thing you always need to consider is the winter weather in buffalo. We all know it could be grey and cloudy here with a few little flakes flying around and at the same time be a blizzard down Niagara way. It has NEVER stopped me but I always caution people in this regard because it can mean booking a room the noght before and that adds to the cost, especially if you are only talking about one or two people flying. In your case, I think I read there a bunch of you but still just a little fyi

You are 7 people so why not fly out of Detroit to Orlando? Lots of one way nonstop flights in January for $89.00 with Delta. Total return with taxes is $199.40.

We have been flying from Buffalo for the past year and a half, but the prices have been steadily climbing. This week we bit the bullet and booked Christmas fares from Pearson.

Two days later, JetBlue's schedule opened up, and the same dates would cost us $600 a person (all taxes included). The Toronto flights were $50 more. I was surprised, and relieved.

I've noticed that not only have fares climbed higher through Buffalo, but the number of direct flights has diminished.

We're east of Toronto - so Detroit is quite far for us. I will keep my eyes peeled, our cruise isn't until January 21st, so we'll probably be flying out the Friday (won't chance a Sat morning flight)
