Pricing airfare from Minneapolis to Orlando - leaving on Monday, November 28and returning on Sunday, December 4.....airfare at $287 ($309 w/taxes and fees) per person. Should I hold out or book it!!!!?????!!! Paid $210.00 per person when we went in early February 2010. :confused3

We booked airfare on Delta for November 4-Nov 13th at $399/pp for this year. Delta ended up canceling our flight down and re-booking us on a much later flight. We were refunded our money and booked on Sun Country for $294/pp. Flight times weren't perfect coming home, but it was direct.

My advice is this: if it is a direct flight and non-air tran, book it.

If it is a lay-over flight or is on airtran, then I would wait it out a little. Air tran will undoubtedly change your flights and possibly add a connection as has happened to us so many times on the MSP-MCO air tran flights.

At $287, you're getting a great price compared to many right now. $294 incl taxes on Sun Country was a steal! Good luck!

Forgot to ad...last year we went at almost the exact same time you are going this year. We paid $219pp on direct delta flights. Haven't been able to touch that price since then...

Thanks, kkmauch........I know when I paid $210 per person round trip in February 2010 I was getting a good deal, but was hoping for another. How were the crowds when you went in November/December? Can't wait to see the Xmas lights and decorations!!!

Crowds were definitely manageable. We did the MVMCP which alleviated some of our need to see parades and the mountains during the day at MK. I will say we never got on Toy Story Mania or Soarin while there. We knew we likely wouldn't going into it though, so no disappointment...kids haven't ever been on them anyway so don't know what they are missing. We just didn't have the time to wait for a FP return time at either park and didn't want to spend 50-75 minutes in line. Better strategies are out there for riding both, but it wasn't a top priority for us.

The only thing that wasn't great about that time for us was the weather! There was a horrible cold snap in FL and we froze! It was warmer at home at one point on our trip and that just about pushed us over the edge. Had to buy a couple of fleeces while we were there to stay warm!!!

The past few times, we have used Sun Country. Love the times they fly, still serve food, very nice crews. We did not pay any extra charges for luggage, I do not know what it is now, it changes all the time. I would take the time and check it out. I would absolutely recommend using them.

Did you try Southwest? they fly out of mInneapolis but im sure you have a connectiing flight at Chicago Midway

For under $300.00, I say buy buy buy!!!!!!

Airfares have soared recently, so I'd grab a fare like that.

Yahooo!!!! Just checked Sun Country this morning and the price of airfare dropped from $287 per person round trip to $229 per person round trip!!!! I JUMPED ON IT!!! LOVE SUN COUNTRY!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Very nice. I paid $260 in March for spring break. That was the highest I had ever paid. I typically don't like to pay more than $220. My old threshold was $200, but prices have gone up... now if you get anything until $250 out of MSP including taxes, you are getting a good deal.

Someone mentioned SW. SW prices have been super high out of MSP from the get go. They have been so ridiculous, at least when I have checked, that I am very nervous to see what happens once Airtran becomes SW.

I picked only one part of your post, the one about SW prices. Do you have any thoughts, based upon your research, about why SW prices have been high out of MSP? The similar thing is true out of Philadelphia, where AirTran prices so far beat SW consistently.

I have no clue as to why they are higher, but they have been consistently high, at least when I check. I was excited for SW to come to MSP, but have not found any reason to fly them.

I do have some guys going to the USBC Open bowling tournament in Reno using SW. They are traveling with bowling balls and the no charge for checked luggage really makes a difference and makes up for the higher cost.
