We are flying from Manchester to Orlando with Virgin going out of VS 75 and back on VS 76. 11.15 am flight. Can anyone tell me the type of aircraft to look at on seat guru to help me plan where to try to book our seats please? In August we had one of those planes with a bubble but were on the later flight of the day. Thanks :)

Won't seatguru give you the type if you put in the flight information, including date? It always does for me.

You can also see the seat configuration on the Virgin website when you know what type of plane you're on. Go on the website click on Virgin experience, then click our fleet and it gives the configuration of their planes, also shows the extra legroom seats.

Lyndon :)

Unless a plane goes tech all the flights to Orlando (LGW/MAN/GLA) are on the 747. :thumbsup2

In case I wasn't clear I was resonding to the OP who was asking about Virgin.

BA operate 777s to MCO.

I knew you were replying about Virgin because the OP had said they were flying with them, but thanks for clarifying it. :thumbsup2

Ok so I'm familiar with this aircraft, but it's 7 years since I last flew PE. Any tips for the best seats to try and pre book? There will be just me and my 12 year old. I went in the bubble last year (economy) and it served my aim of getting us off the flight first and also it was nice and quiet on the journey home. That said, luggage overhead space was rubbish and I actually felt even more claustrophobic than usual up there. I'm thinking the back row of PE seats downstairs - left hand side (ie not the same side as the loo!) Any tips?

They are now all refurbed 747s. They used to be A330s, but they were phased out and moved onto other routes at the back end of last year.

The back row isn't great for PE - IIRC the seats don't recline as far and you can get a bit of bustle from economy.

This time we are aiming for the middle side section (very quiet on our last trip) and PE bubble on the way back if we can get it. We are doing NY next month and chose the downstairs window seats near the middle (old faithful lol).

I always book the back row downstairs on the way out as you are first of the plane :thumbsup2 Never noticed a reduced recline or any bother from Economy.

We like the bubble for the way home as it is quieter :goodvibes

Thanks. These were exactly my thoughts. Really need DD to sleep on the way home as she's back at school the day after we land!!!!
