Screamscape.com has a link to a pic of an aerial view of Univeral's 2,000 acres (minus the acreage sold to the Convention Center)

Here's the pic.

Looks interesting, and a lot of land seems to be devoted to hotel space.

BTW, I was working on gathering some Terraserver images of the property and putting it together for one big picture. Now I have a better idea of the land they bought, I might be able to post it soon.

EDIT: Also, if I'm looking at it correctly, there are possibly going to be over 12,000 more hotel rooms in addition to whatever resorts Universal builds right beside the property.

Right, alot of space seems to be for hotels.
What about the South Campus? Could that be the 3rd theme park? Doesn't say what that land is for, but it's a big piece of land that seems to be surrounded by hotels and a golf course.
I hope it's a thrill ride park. They've done stuff for kids, done the movie rides, now it's time to build massive coasters by B&M, Intamin, S&S.

Yes, south campus is for the 3rd and maybe even 4th theme park. That's been in the plans for a long time now

The rumor I heard was a park with a castle that would make the mouse squeal...and according to Jim Hill, Universal has the theme park rights to Harry Potter and LOTR. Man I would love to see Hogworts.

I thought they already had a thrill ride park?

Yes, they do have a thrill ride park. They just haven't added anything to it in a long time.

I visited 4 parks in 5 days in Atlanta/Virginia. My Trip Report is on this board if you wanna read it.

What made me say WOW we're the thrill rides by B&M, Intamin, and S&S. We're talking about Drop Zone, that drops you from 272 feet. We're talking about Acrophobia, which takes you up 161 feet, tilts the seats, and drops. Volcano with a launch, then re-launch up thru a mountain. Apollo's Chariot, a hyper coaster that runs thru the mountains at 70+ mph. Superman, a B&M Flyer that makes you feel like you're flying at 60+ mph. That's what I'm talking about. Forget about the 200 foot height thing that's been at Disney and IOA. Bring the best thrill rides to one park, even if they have to start with only a few and work their way up. And please, don't build an animal park and try to put some rides in there. No no no. Build a thrill ride park to push the limits.

So is everything that is highlighted green Universal property?

To be honest, I always thought this expansion land was a little south of the current land, north of Sand Lake, east of Turkey Lane, and west of I-4. You know, the barran land you see on the left of the circular off ramp you take while heading west on I-4 (where RPH is on the right), or when you go on Doom facing away from the park. It's a whole lot of empty, undeveloped land to not be something Universal is going to build on (logic being that whom ever owns this land would've built something on it by now).

Maybe the new park will revolve around horror, fantasy and sci-fi (call it Genre Land ;) , or Fan Boy Hevean :p ), utilizing the Universal Monsters, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, and Matrix properties.
