has anyone flown with Air Tran? I have been looking at prices out of Detroit and they seem to be the lowest this time. I have always been with North West (and once Spirit) but never with Air Tran. What are you thoughts and experiances with this airline?

AirTran has been an excellent airline for the most part. The planes are all new, and they usually have good prices (at least for my airport) down to MCO, including a few nonstop options. I'd recommend them.

I LOVED AirTran!! The Mr. and I actually flew AirTran in Dec. from DTW to MIA. They were absolutely great! We got to the airport a little late and the counter agent let us upgrade our seats to Business class for $30 so we could bypass the security lines. It was really nice. FA were great, gate agents were wonderful. I really wish they had Airtran in Nashville where we live now. They would soooo give SW some competition.

I have flown a lot with my kids this year on several different airlines.

The worst was with Northwest with a connecting flight each way - we had 4 flights, 4 significant mechanical related delays, one race through the Memphis airport, two nearly missed connections, and one cancelation with a rescheduling for the next day that also bought us a trip through the thorough security check because of the "last minute tickets."

The hands down best was AirTran with Delta a close second. The Air Tran planes were both very nice and the seats more spacious and generously spaced than Sun Country. They kept bringing us drinks and snacks through the whole flight! AND the whole thing ran on time. There was also the added bonus that the Air Tran gates are very convenient to the front of our airport. I imagine that not all trips on Air Tran will be SO perfect, but it made a big impression on me at the time, given that the most recent trip I had been on was that one with all the delays.! In the future, I will fly Air Tran whenever I can!

Oh, BTW, they have XM Satellite radio on board so bring your headphones!!

We have flown on Airtran out of Phila. twice (or was it 3x?) and had great flight experiences. The flight attendants at the airports and onboard were very friendly and helpful. Both times I was noticeably pregnant, once with a 2 year-old and once with a 4 and a 2 year-old and They were more than accomodating to us with carseats and strollers etc. In additon my niece flew as an unaccompanied minor on 2 occasions (mid teenager) and said they were very, very helpful, especially when her flight was delayed due to a huge storm. I have enough credits for 3 one-way tickets due to the Wendy's promo and can't wait to use them this winter for Disney!
