Does Air Tran do anything if the price of your tickets goes down since you bought them? Mine went from $350 to $318.:sad2:

Yes. If you booked with Airtran directly, all them and give them your confirm number. Request the lower fare and they will give you a credit to your Airtran account to use for future flights/ baggae payments/seat assignments/upgrades. No cash back, but just as good IMHO.

If you booked through Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. you need to get your Airtran confirm number from them so that you can call Airtran directly. Airtran may or may not give you the $ back as technically, you should be going through the TA that you used. I was successful once in getting the $ back from Airtran even though I'd booked through Orbitz. I will never book through Orbitz again, I only book Airtran direct through Airtran now.

Do they charge a fee? Other posters have said that there was a $15 over-the-phone charge.

I kept getting an error yesterday and now the prices are $7 more pp each way. :confused3 They are like that all summer now. The $83 rate is gone. :( I can't decide if I should book today and try for the credit or wait it out. We're flying BMI to MCO on July 22.

Has anyone ever used a credit to upgrade to "business" class? I got a $92.00 credit:banana:

Yes. And my experience in upgrading, has been to call after midnight of the day preceding your flight. So if you have a 9 AM flight on March 20, you could call to upgrade (not do the online checkin, that is 24 hours before), just the upgrade, after midnight of March 19. I have done that 3 times.

Great tip! How much is it for the upgrade?

Did you do this with A+ credits or an A+ upgrade voucher? You can upgrade using A+ credits at midnight the day before the flight, but if paying money for the upgrade you would have to wait until the 24 hour mark.

Per Airtrans website:

frequently asked questions
specials and sale fares
I have already purchased my tickets and have seen specials for a less expensive fare. Can I get the lower price?

A $75 fee per person applies to any change made after purchase, plus any applicable increase in airfare. Any changes to your reservation must occur at least 1 hour prior to departure.

If you wish to change your reservation, please contact our reservation center at 1-800-AIR-TRAN (1-800-247-8726). If you originally booked your reservation at AirTran.com, you may retrieve your booking and make your changes online.

Long story short, it will cost you $75 per ticket to get back $32 per ticket. The only way it is worth it, is if your savings is over $75, then you will get the difference. My DH has already been there and done that :goodvibes

That may be what the website says but it is not what Airtran does in reality. I have called within the last few months to get a refund (credit in my Airtran account) when ticket prices dropped. I was not charged $75 per ticket.

There was a period of time where Airtran was not giving the credits but they started to do it again. I got that tip here at the DIS and found it to be true.

Thanks for the info....I guess my DH was in that short period of time :rotfl:

Both. But not the checkin, that was 24 hours, and not a minute sooner.

I have been lucky in the past because have not had to pay luggage fees. I have to this trip however. Do you pay the luggage fee once or twice? (coming and going?) I heard, but did not pay attention to the answer, at resort check-in that luggage fees had to already be paid. I am trying to give info to the others in my party and I don't know.

You pay going down and coming back. No many how many stops you make, you only pay for bags once.

The information for the RAC will be under your door the night before you leave, with the number to calls for BAGS, to pay your baggage fee. I did that in December; but I have heard since then, they allow you to pay your baggage fee at the RAC. I cannot confirm that.

We paid our baggage fees at the CBR RAC last Saturday. They did online checkin for us, printed our boarding passes and let us pay the baggage fees right there. We didn't have to call the separate number to pay the baggage fees.
