What happens with AIrTran when you cancel a flight?

Does the money go into an account like SW? DO you lose it all or just some of it?

Hearing that others are getting their Wendy credits I was wondering if my 1 way ticket came through could I then cancel my paid flight and get some or all of my money back and use the A+rewards credit to rebook the flight?

Is there any way of doing this? I thought I would ask here before I called and ask the airline these dumb questions!

There are "change fees" which I think are $50 each way. I'm sure someone can let you know for sure!

It is a coach ticket and it says that it is not refundable but then it says there is a $50 fee to change it and gives a cancellation time.

This is confusing!

Even if I had to give up $50 it might be worth it to get the rest back but I am not sure that is what it means.

In my experience, if you cancel with airtran you then get an airtran credit, to be used for another flight of what you paid minus the 50$ change fee. To use the free flight credits you generally have to call fairly quickly after they release flight dates to be able to get a "free" seat, so if you were hoping to do this for a trip that is happening soon, I would think there would probably not be any "free" seats left. Again, this is only my experience. I am also collecting the Wendy's cups and am hoping for a free ticket sometime next October or December, so I will be watching and will call as soon as I see those dates released.

You will have much better luck by sending a nice notel to the e-mail address listed on their website. I was credited $210 when our flights went on sale two days after purchasing our tickets. They responded quickly, rebooked us (same flights) and gave us a credit. People calling them with the same request got nothing. Good luck.
