Just booked Air Tran for our October trip to celebrate our birthdays - at $49 each way. I have been watching online and it had been at $79 earlier this week. I'm so excited!

that's a great rate!! I keep watching to see if AirTran or SW fares come down for our December flight but so far, no such luck. Is your flight a direct flight or connecting?? We too will be flying from Philadelphia and so far the best rate i can find is $99 each way for December... :wizard:

EXCELLENT. We did get a great rate on SW from Philly. The total for four is $415. We were looking to fly on Spirit from AC but just couldn't pass this deal up.

motofox4,

The flight is non-stop, but there were limited non-stop flights available.
I would say keeo looking for December, that way you have the most options.

Best of Luck!

Stacey

I need Oct 7 MCO to PHL (already have SW $49 on the way to WDW). I do see the $49 fares, but they are only for 7 and 8 am flights to PHL. Didn't want to have to get up at 5 am on our lato go to the airport on our last day. I guess that's why only those are available. Noone else wants to get up early either....;)

Anyone have any info on Airtran? We are travelling in Dec. and could get a flight for the 5 of us for $619. Not sure if I should grab it because I don't know much about Airtran. Any info would be great - Thanks!

Wow! Is that round trip? That is an awesome price! I paid $800 for 5 people roundtrip and thought that was a great price at the time! LOL! That is about the price of the $80 tickets both ways.

I booked airtran this am for our flight to Disney December 10th. Haven't booked the return flight yet, hoping next week they'll open up more non stops for $49. we got the $49 deal for our flights next month each way, non stop!!! I have been watching the sites DAILY, sometimes many times a day, not wanting to pay alot since there are five of us going in December.

Good luck to those waiting for flights. :goodvibes :goodvibes

These fares are awesome, but my husband doesn't want to book it until he reads more about Air Tran. We were also hoping to leave to come home a little later. He thinks SW will match these prices (we have flown with them a lot and it was a good experience).

I hope we're not making a mistake not booking right now.

Hey - I have flown both airlines and had a great experience on Air Tran last summer. I would consider them equal in terms of in-flight experience. The Air Tran planes we were on were new & clean, the people were nice, and the seats were comfortable.

They also offer satellite radio free of charge and if they have business class seats available at the gate they sell them for $50. We took advantage of that on our way home and loved it!

You can pay extra to pick your seats in advance, or you will be assigned your seats when you check in at the airport. (I think).

I have heard on these boards that Air Tran changes its schedules often, so you have to check in on their site every once in a while. Our flight for August did change by about 10 minutes.

I would say Air Tran and SW are pretty equal. I would not hesitate to book either of them for the right price.

Hope that helps.

We've flown from Pittsburgh to Orlando on AirTran a few times. We have never had any problems (so far - knock on wood). In fact one time we had the resort front desk check us in for the return flight and they accidently gave us seats in different rows. When we got to the airport AirTran agents were able to re-assign our seats so we were together. We are flying AirTran again in August.
I've had more problems being delayed when flying Southwest then with AirTran.

Just got a nice credit from AirTran. I had booked in May for our trip 12/6- 12/11 for four people. AT that time the price was $99 down and $79 back, PHL to MCO. When I checked the AirTran website last night it had gone down to $49 each way. I called AirTran and a very nice rep gave me a credit for over $300!! I guess we'll have to go on another trip!! :thumbsup2

I just booked AirTran from Detroit for our Nov30- Dec 8th Trip. $716.80 total including booking our seats on 2 of the three flights. Non stop down and 1 short layover coming home. I nervous about waiting for seats on the long flights because of 2 kids, but they will be 6 & 10 so could handle it if we are a little bit apart on the short flight from MCO to Atlanta. Was that a mistake?

Does anyone know if you don't pick your seats (I'm assuming there's a charge), then do they try and assign families together ?

You can go on line 24 hrs ahead of your flight and pick your seats without charge as along as you have booked on line. If you have paper tickets you get your seats when you check in. I'm sure they do their best to keep parents and children together. But, your whole party may not be together if a lot of the passengers have picked their seats ahead of time.

You're welcome. Hey, we were at AKL Dec. 6- 10 2006. Loved the Christmas tree in the lobby. We'll be at WL this year Dec. 7- 11. It's a great time to go!!!
Wow. Good to hear this. This will be my first stay at this resort and I am looking forward to it. I was a little concerned reading about all the DVC construction. I'm just going to think positive.
