Hi,
So we booked flights to go to Disney this August. We are now talking about extending our trip. I swear that when I looked on Air Tran's website a couple weeks ago it said there were no change fees. I just looked at flights today and noticed that it says there is a $75 per ticket change fee. Ummm am I going crazy?

A friend had to fly home from their winter home in Florida for a funeral in early February and then had to extend the trip when another family member died, it was $75 change fee + $75 change in fare on AirTran. I checked the website for her and the $75 change fee was there.

Here's a chart of change fees, by airline, from November 2011:

http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/blog/3801087/airline-fee-chart/

For Airtran, the chart has "$75 (will follow Southwest's policy, below, upon full integration of the two airlines)."

What the chart fails to say is that when the integration of AirTran into Southwest is complete, AirTran will no longer exist. Until then, AirTran is essentially operating with the same rules as before Southwest acquired AirTran. (The only exceptions are when people bur AirTran tickets through Southwest, which recently became possible.)

Airtran is $75
SWA is zero

But if you purchase your Airtran flights on SWA there is no change fee

AHHHH I purchased right through Air Tran's website. Our plan was to extend our disney vacation this August but there is going to be $300 in airline fees to do so....... now I can't justify extending.....

Actually, the integration is not complete and won't be totally done until the end of 2014. From their website: We are currently in the process of integrating our two airlines and plan to have AirTran completely integrated into Southwest Airlines by the end of 2014. In the meantime, you can purchase tickets for AirTran international flights, earn A+ Rewards Credits (which can be converted into Rapid Rewards Points through Rewards Conversion), and enjoy an amazing tropical vacation in Mexico or The Caribbean.

You would also pay any fare difference on top of the $75 per person change fee.

You need to check every day to see if your flight times have changed...if they have they will allow you to change (even to another day) for free. I have done it several times and it's great. This is for Airtran booked through Airtran.
