Hi everyone. We will be taking Air Tran for the first time to WDW this fall. My understanding is that they are not an ME participating Airline, but that we can still check our bags as usual, and have them delivered my ME. However, on the way home, we will need to get our bags off the ME bus, and check them at Orlando Airport. Is this correct?

Actually I believe that Air Tran was added as a participating airline this week. You should be able to use ME with full baggage transfers now.

If that's the case, the Disney ME website hasn't been updated (it doesn't list Airtran as a participating airline).

Allears reported Airtran's participation in the last news letter that was sent out just a few days ago. It doesn't appear to be on the Disney site (yet).

The newsletter said it would start in May, so by mid-May it should be on the website as participating. Double check online or call ME then to make sure.

If for some reason, the info is wrong and Airtran is not participating in resort airline checkin by fall, then yes, what you said is correct as to how you do things. :)

Yes; we use AT all the time and this is what we have been doing...

This is such awesome news as we pretty much use Airtran exclusively for our WDW trips!

We're excited to hear Airtran has been added (as of May anyway) as a RAC! What a relief it will be to not have to haul 8 bags, golf clubs, etc... WHEW!

I'm so happy!
We flew AirTran in Feb., and they were testing RAC. I'm glad to hear it's been added. That might be the straw in choosing between SW and AirTran for our Nov. trip.

:woohoo:

Is AirTran that bad about changing flight times.. I want to book so I arrive early in the day and depart later in the day to get the most time at WDW... I am soooo scared to book for our Aug trip due to them changing my 8am dlight to like 5pm on a whim... Is this somethign that happens alot???

Great info! I was just about to book with AirTran for our Nov trip to WDW, but we've never used them before and my hubby is a little nervous. Are they generally good? :confused3
The thing that makes me most nervous is that for the cheap price, we can't reserve seats until 24 hours prior to leaving and it will be my DH and 3 kids, who've never flown and are all 10 and under. I need to make certain that we can sit with our kids. Even if our family is separated, I guess I don't mind, but our kids need to have at least one of us with them.
The rate I found from Indy to MCO is less than $1000 total, round trip for all 5 of us! I hate to pass it up! Who knows what will happen to prices in the next 7 months!

Any advice from those who are experience with Air Tran would be welcome!
Thanks!:goodvibes

I flew AirTran out of Indy in December. It was a great flight. Courteous attendants, on time, both ways.

I booked our flight for Feb 07 in July 06. They did not change the flight times at all. I booked earliest flight of the day on the way to MCO and mid day on the way home. No problems. :thumbsup2

We booked our Feb 07 flight in July 06. We had 7 tickets. When I checked in 24 hours in advance, we were all seated together (2 rows of 3 and then 1 seat in front of the rows). I didn't have to change seating assignments...they were fine as they were. I am looking at them again for our Nov trip.

They changed my flight times three times but it was only an hour or two off. So no biggie our AM out of Indy was pushed back to 7am, and the flight home pushed back to 4pm. Original times were 7:40 and 5:15 I think.
