I Love Air-Tran Airplanes and Airport.. Right now they are having a killer sale into November (far as I went) and are selling Fast! $49.00 each way from DETROIT (DTW) and other States as well. the ones we booked are Non-Stop. We just added a short 5 day fast trip just because of the Low Price. Just heads Up..

I knew I should have waited. I booked through Spirit and let's just say it's costing me a little more than double that to fly out of DTW. However, I did get really good flight times. That's a great job on finding that fare!! :thumbsup2

Hi Fellow Michiganders-
I booked mine last week at the $49.00 price-couldn't resist. We're going 10/29-11/07. Now 4 of us are flying for under $500 :cool1:.

We're heading down 8/13 - 8/20. Couldn't pass up the free dining. We usually drive, but decided to fly this time since we are saving a ton of money staying at POP with the free dining.

Whoa! That's a great price...might have to head north to visit MI family come Nov. Thanks for the tip!

Has airtran gotten better? I flew them once to Orlando and had such an aweful time of it the airline gave us food voucher, room vouchers, transportation vouchers, and a free round trip flight. We were extremely late, flight home was canceled, they were only going to get us back to Atlanta on the way home instead of all the way to Minneapolis, no one would tell us anything - had to call home to get info from our home airport... Deciding to give them another shot and try again I used the free voucher to fly to Jacksonville for Spring Break. This time the flight was okay but my luggage (with everyone else from Minneapolis) got on an earlier flight than me (us) and they were going to ship it back to Minnesota with bills for the shipping! :furious: we were also late in getting home but not that much so I really didn't care that time

I would love to try flying them again especially with deals like this, they beat every other airline from MSP but I am pretty wary of them seeing as I have been burned two of two times.

This all happened a few years ago 2002 I believe and I know they were replacing planes and such. I do remember a few weeks ago a FAA report said they were ranked like #3 for luggage handeling now but still like rock bottom for on time flights.

Have I just been that unlucky or have they gotten better in the past few years? :confused3

I love AirTran too. We had some problems caused by weather a couple of years ago, and they bent over backwards for us, including upgrading us to first class for that flight (and two more, too!). Our only complaint is that we have to change planes in Atlanta (we leave from Newark, NJ), and that's one long trip from one gate to the other!

It is not that much further and out of Philly its cheaper and more direct flights. I also like the park and fly out of Philly - my August Airtran flight is at 7am -- wakeup call, shuttle, no traffic, and in Orlando at 9:30.

If Spirit could match Airtran, I would fly out of Atlantic City. Spirit puts things on sale the last minute, so your punished for booking early IMHO.

Before Air Tran we only flew Northwest airlines known as (NorthWorst) but ever since Air-Tran we are in Love... Newer planes, more leg room. taller trays and so much more Friendly staff. I am so sorry the one poster had twice a bad time we have only had nothing but Great Flights. In a matter of Fact we have booked Air-Tran for our up-coming Sept. trip at reg full fare of $224.00 a person so it made it easy for us to squeeze in yet another short and fast trip for this Nov. due to this Great price. I just wish this price comes back when we go again with 10 of us in May 07...

I have to fly from ND and the cheapest thing we can get right now is almost $600/person. I'm thinking of driving to Minneapolis to take advantage of a $250 Airtran fare!

$600.00 a ticket! WoW! I would cry, I so hope that you go for the ride and fly for the $250.00 to save which you would save an armful plus you can go to the World!! Yippie!!! Good Luck and let us know what you decide...

where are the 49 dollar flights, i am only seeing 99 web rate :confused3

I just looked it up on airtran.com, and they still have the 49 flight. Not sure what you are looking at only to see a 99 webrate.

I checked prices for us for Dec 1 - Dec 11 flying IND to MCO, and the cheapest I can find is $84.00/per for connecting flights. DH won't do connecting flights. Sure wish INDY had the $49.00 fares. I might be able to convince DH for that price.

See, I am coming from NY, so I think thats why i wish they had this rate for me :guilty:
