We are flying to MCO in March to see our son march with his band. He is flying home with us. Should I book 4 rt and 1 one way home? Or should I book both ends as one way tix???

IMO that would depend on the rates you find and the schedule that you are looking for.

We book one ways alot. We fly out either Boston or Providence and the best rates are usually to fly out late in the day and come back first thing in the morning. We want the opposite (first flight out, last flight back). For our Oct trip we're flying Southwest on the way down and U.S. Air on the way back for almost the same money but with the schedule we want.

If you want your son on your itinerary, book the one ways. If you book 4 round trips and 1 one way, he will be on his own itinerary and if there is a cancellation, there is a remote chance he could be placed on a different flight. Now, most of the time this happens way in advance and you have time to remedy it, but at least you would be on the same itinerary with the one ways, hence moved to the same flight....
