Air Miles?

I was wondering if you have ever used your air miles towards a car rental? I have enough for 2 days and I need the car for 3, have you ever done a booking like this. Does it make it difficult to split it up. I talked to air miles and they just told me that the points are going up in April, they are going from 250 to 320 a day. This set me into a mood! Any info would be great. Thanks

I used 2 $100.00 gift certificate's last year for a National Car Rental. We rented a 7 passenger van and it cost me $196.00!!!!!

I would normally say that using Airmiles for rental cars is not a great deal, but with the price of rental cars this year, you are probably doing the right thing. I think people do connecting rentals all the time, to take advantage of specials or different rates. You would have to confirm that the two reservations connect with the rental company.

Good to know about the increasing airmiles..I want to book our car before that then. We are also booking one for 3 days. We have used AM a few times before..picking up at the Dolphin and dropping off at the airport.

So...if one were to use GC's..do you have to indicate that when you book..or do you just book as normal and provide a credit card number and then when picking up the car pay with the gc's?????

You still have to cover the taxes yourself. There are some really good codes on Mousesavers. I just booked Dollar (because I need to have a drop off in Port Canaveral) and tried ALL of the Dollar codes, found one that worked great!

I tried to use my airmiles, but none of the companies have an office in Port Canaveral.

This is great to find out. I will be ordering my gift certificates today! Thanks everyone for the info. We are staying at the Pop Century, is the car centre or the Dolphin closer to the hotel? We are going to drop our stuff at the hotel then return the car after.

The Dolphin is closer but the CCC will shuttle you back to your hotel. Also, the rates are sometimes different between the two locations.
