Air Miles Deal of the Week question.

I'm waiting as well we have enough am for the flights for our family of five and the hoppers. We are going for a convention then plan to stay. convention is not on sight so first week is off site then seriously considering staying at a deluxe resort for last week maybe renting dvc points. going for about 14 days jan 2010 but I don't think you can buy the passes for 2010 yet does anyone know? has anyone ever rented the dvc points it would still be more than we normally spend but I keep thinking that given the flight and passes are covered maybe we can splurge whats others opinions about staying at a wdw resort ?

I am not sure where you live, but if it is in Southern Ontario, it is cheaper to fly out of Buffalo, NY or Detroit MI, than it is to pay the taxes on the redeemed airmiles flights. You are better off using them toward park tickets etc. As long as you do not use any days on the tickets they will not expire until 14 days after first use. Therefore, you can get your airmiles tickets now for your trip in 2010 or later.

unfortunately we live in AB so not so great on ticket prices. Last year we went to Disneyland on airmiles in mid jan. I bought my hopper tickets in the summer but they almost didn't come in time. 5 days before our trip and still no tickets, they were back ordered, had the airmiles agent try and track to warehouse, they told me they weren't in yet and were going to make me buy the adult passes with cash and refund the airmiles as according to their records only our kids passes would arrive before our flight. I decided to wait one more day thank goodness, went to the mail and there they all were but that was 4 days prior to departure.I am worried something like this will happen again

how do you get an annual pass through airmiles I didn't even know that was an option??

You don't ... you have to redeem airmiles for any of the passes available on the airmiles site, and when you get to Disney you can use them to upgrade to an annual pass. You would just have pay the difference between the cost of the pass from airmiles and the annual pass. But make sure you use the pass from airmiles first that way you are getting gate value for your pass rather than the discounted value airmiles paid for the pass.

As others have said you get the Airmiles ticket first and then upgrade once you get there. And this is how to do it (from another similar thread):

Yes. I did this with a ticket purchased from Undercover tourist. I had used it for a couple of days before I upgraded it to an annual pass. When you use it to enter a park first, it sets the ticket's initial value to gate price and not the discounted price. So I upgraded my 7-day base ticket to an annual pass for something like $250USD.

But I am a confirmed Windsor Hills-aholic! Love having our own pool and spa! Do you guys drive down or fly from Syracuse? Are you March Breakers?:dance3:

We have flown from Syracuse although the idea of driving down for the next trip is out there as a possibility.
