New cruiser here and I have heard that it is a good idea to bring an air refreshner with you on a cruise (orders may come from bathroom). do they allow you to bring a plug-in aboard?? Are they safe to use on the ship. I actually have never purchased these.

I don't think that is a restriction, but there are few outlets, and they are out of reach per say.

I would advise on not doing a plug in, that is my opinion.

I agree. The plug-ins are for electric razors only. If you're concerned purchase a little aersol bottle of room freshener at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I Just got off the magic & the were NO smells in our rooms. IMO pack as little as possible.

In 20 cruises, we've had some situations when the vent by the toilet really smelled bad and others where there were no smells at all. If you get a nasty one, tell your room steward--they can treat it. That will save you needing to bring any air freshener. And, ditto to the outlets--they are not plentiful and only the ones by the desk work the way outlets at home do (run anything, re-charge things). The ones in the bathroom indicate that they are only for electric razors, and I know they won't re-charge my camera batteries!

IMO I dont think the air freshner is necessary. We cruised with my husband, myself and 3 small children, so you can imagine how children are in the bathroom. lol It did get a little musty in the room at time, but we just opened our balcony door and let some fresh air in and it was fine. You are very limited for plug ins, so if you do feel inclined to bring airfreshner, just grab a spray type. HTH

I had one but I don't think it's necessary. It was a plug in, which I bought because of recommendations on these boards, and not only did I think it was unecessary but I could tell DCL doesn't like it because when we came back to our room everyday (after it was cleaned) it was unplugged.

I took a travel size Lysol. It's very small & the perfect size. You can get them just about anywhere, grocery store, Wal Mart, even the dollar stores.

Thank you all for your replies. I also purchased the small can of lysol so I will just bring that in case I need it ( that also will disinfect things too). I will the plug-ins at home.

We bring the scent ports that you can get at body and bath. They don't have to be plugged at all. I don't use them so much for the odors in the rooms...more as I'm addicted to the scent and have them everywhere at home to begin with! :) But they work wonderfully and they take up literally no space at all.
