Air France online check in?

I have just booked flights for November from Manchester via Air France.

Reading the information they have sent it says they email the boarding pass the day before the flight.

I have always checked in at the airport. Has anyone had experience of the online check in with them? Do they send both boarding passes at the start of the holiday or will I need internet access in France for the return journeys passes?

Thanks in advance :)

You will only be able to check in for your outbound flight. If you want to OLCI for your return flight, you will have to find Internet access. I've done it on my iPhone at the McDonald's in Disney Village, as you get free WiFi there.

You don't need to do online check in for your return flight ~ you can leave checking in until you get to the airport if you prefer.

This is true, however I would highly recommend doing it if you can. The one time we didn't, DBF and I were seated separately. :sad2:

Every Air France flight I've been on has been packed so I won't be risking it again!

Hi, we flew with Air France last week. I checked in online for our outgoing flight, and printed the boarding passes at the airport. For coming back we tried to get WIFI at the railway station but it wouldn't work on my partner's iphone. Found out afterwards the Hotel New York is the best place for internet access.

Anyway, we checked in at the airport for our return flight and got seats together. I would say check in before if you can, just for peace of mind.

Hope that helps

Lesley

For next time, remember that you can get free WiFi at McDonald's in the Village. You don't have to go inside, it works outside too. :)

Oh, I agree, definitely check in ahead of time if you can (sorry if my post made it sound like it wasn't necessary).

When I booked with Air France for March 2011 a few days ago, the email stated that I had "automatic check-in". I researched it a bit and it seems to be new. You don't have to do online check-in, but you will be checked-in by Air France automatically. They will send you the boarding pass by email. If you don't receive it or can't access your email, you can pick up the boarding pass at the counter or at a machine at the airport. It also says that seats will be assigned according to your requests and that they will try to seat groups together. So there isn't any option to choose your seat.
