Can someone please help??
The airfares for April are out of site.
We are leaving from the east coast....
should I wait?????
Anyone ???

Thanks

They don't even have the dec sales out yet, let alone april of 2003!

Watch them carefully....I booked my March 2003 flight in Aug....and only paid $133...which is currently $120 cheaper then most of the flights right now....

you have to watch them daily....with this in mind...you will more than likely not see a sale before 2-3 months before your travel date...but once in awhile one will pop up which is good for travel up to a year in advance, that is why it is a good idea to watch daily.

Try different airports. Our flights out of Phila. were much cheaper than newark.

Figure out what is the fare YOU want and when you find it book it! You have to keep checking.

I did just this. I decided that once I found a flight under $250 (from SFO to MCO) I would book. Well two weeks ago I found $219.50 and booked it but out of Sacremento only 30 mins more away.

I was trying to hold out for a cheaper fare, but was told by everyone that the reduced seats are sold way ahead of time. After watching the airfares for 2 months and hoping for a sale, I finally booked last week. (We are going in February, peak time.) Also, they said that as the plane books up, the price of the remaining seats go up. We are going during President's Week and I was told over and over again that there would be no sales.

I found the best airfare at www.orbitz.com. Still more than I wanted to spend, but it was either that, or take a chance at not having a seat. Orbitz is run by the airlines. I first saw the flights I wanted to take on expedia. When I went back to book it, it was gone. I logged onto Orbitz, and they still had it available.

Also, the airlines mentioned it's harder to get a lower airfare if you need to make connections. If even just one leg of your round-trip flight is booking up, it can really drive the cost up.

Hope it helps!

As others have said, be sure to check websites as often as you can. Great airfare deals will appear and disappear out of nowhere, often without any publicity at all.

Never think it is too early for great deals to come out. I bought my tickets for Apr. 2003 (Easter week) in May of this year, for $177 with Delta. The prices for my flight dates have stayed much higher since then. Maybe they will come way down again, and maybe they won't. But I don't have to worry since I jumped at the price as soon as I stumbled across it. That airfare special was only out there for a matter of hours on a Sunday.

If you're not already registered on travelocity, that would be a good thing to do. Their farewatcher service will track fares between 5 pairs of cities that you choose. When the fare falls below a certain price goal that you set, you will be e-mailed. If a good fare comes up, I always go to the specific airline's website to make sure I'm getting the lowest fare for the flight I want.

Good luck as you pursure some good CHEAP airfare! :D

I just kept looking for fares on a regular basis. I started in Aug and finally I found a fare from Southwest that was only out for a week $78 each way from Manchester NH to Orlando 4 adults and 2 kids was $865. This is for the first week in Jan and I booked in Sept.

Good Luck and keep looking !!

Did you check AirTran? I booked our flights, for our upcoming trip, in May. I paid $172.50 for each ticket, roundtrip from Philly...a lot cheaper that US Airways.
