What is up with coast to coast air fares? I have never seen such high prices. Anyone find anything better than $328.00? This is out of San Jose Calif. 2 years ago we got airfare out of SFO R/T for $138.00. Times sure have changed. DAHHHH!!! :smooth:

Airfares are very high lately for those of us out West. Our group of 6 was originally going to book with America West but in 1 week the fare went from $1250.00 to over $2,000.00!!!!!!!!

I finally found a great deal with Continental for $1449.00 and snapped it up. Within 3 days the fare went up by another $300.00.

Because we are flying in December, we only wanted to fly into either Phoenix or Houston so we don't have as many chances of bad weather as we might flying into Salt Lake or Denver.

Just keep checking every day and hopefully you can find something reasonable.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

I would suggest signed up for Fare Watcher on Travelocity. If you know what a good price from your city to your destination is, you plug in that amount. When airfare reaches or goes below your desired fare, you'll get an email from them. Over the last few months I've seen it from anywhere between $179 to over $385 from LAX to MCO. A really good fare from my city would be $200 or less. It's too soon for me to book as our trip is 8/04 but come mid September, I'll be keeping an eagle eye out and as soon as it hits $200 I'm pulling out my credit card!

I forgot to mention that when you sign up for Fare Watcher, each time you go to the Travelocity website, the current fare for your cities will be on the their home page.

We've always paid about 400 pp RT flying out of SFO. However, this time we got 256.00 RT w/ American Airlines out of SFO. It is not a direct flight, one stop. I am finding that it is very hard to find direct flights to Orlando anymore...or they are very expensive.Glad we booked this flight last November...found it by accident and haven't seen that price since. good luck

Are fares usually higher out of SFO? Earlier this week there was a direct flight on AA for $203 out of LAX, now it's up to $243.

Yes, SFO seems to be most expensive compared to the smaller airports like San Jose or Oakland. The price I got is good considering it is out of SFO because I haven't seen that price out of San Jose either. We are in between the 2 airports so it's okay...SFO is a little closer actually. I wonder why the fares are cheaper in LA??

I just wanted to agree - Airfare has been rough lately -

Let's all wish for a big sale soon!!!

We're going on our 3rd trip to WDW in 19 DAYS!! and have never paid more than $200 RT out of San Jose.

We always have a stop, once in Denver on United and once in DFW on American. This time we paid $177 + taxes on United and are changing planes in LA then non stop to MCO.

Once we decide when we are going I start watching the airfares.

I sign up at Travelocity for MCO and enter $200 for the fare. I also watch Orbitz - used them twice - but such a major mix up the last time I won't use them again (these were for non disney trips). If I find something on Orbitz - I then check out the airlines own website.

It seems new fares generally come out on Monday/Tuesday and have a trend to go up on the weekends.

I am near Concord, CA so have the luxory of several airports to choose from. Last year, SJ was the cheapest, the year before SFO was the cheapest. Oakland never seems to have good fares. The best fare I found this year was out of Sacramento-I booked at $228 round trip leaving the day before Thanksgiving.
