We are going to WDW in August. Most likely from 8/9-8/17, BUT the dates are not carved in stone until I call Sunday & change the 1st half of the trip from our home resort (OKW) to (fingers crossed!) VWK & the second half of our trip on Wednesday from OKW to (fingers crossed extra tight for DD's b-day wish resort) BLT. OK - now that you know ALL that!!! :lmao: Here are my questions.

I can book Jet Blue out of HPN, round trip, just under $900 for the 4 of us. Airtran has not released their August schedule & according to an email I received from them, it will not be released until the end of this month. I think under $900 is good - but would LOVE to save even more. Do you savvy, more frequent travelers, think once Airtran releases their schedule it will:

1. be cheaper than JetBlue to start out?
2. JetBlue will lower their rate now that there is competition? (I do not think any other airline flys out of HPN non-stop other than JetBlue & Airtran)
3. or some other senario I have not thought of!

Thanks!:grouphug:

Let me ask you a question first. Why can't you book your airfare now??? Why the need to wait until you see which resort you get? Are you going no matter which resort you stay at??? IF so, I would book airfare now.
So...airfare. It's pretty much a crapshoot. A game of chance really. You need to decide how much you are willing to spend for airfare. When you see fares that fall into that catagory, book it. I don't think that $225 pp is a bad deal. In fact, I would be very happy with it. I've flown Airtran before, but really preferJetblue. But you have to do what you think is best.
I really haven't noticed any 'fare wars' lately. Yes, fares do go up, and down occasionally, but it may not happen just because Airtran opens their window.

All predictions I have read are that airfares will continue to rise. So if you see a price you can live with, book it now.

If we do not get the resort we wish to stay at & end up staying at OKW the entire time then - because OKW is less points - I can stay 1 extra day so we will leave on 8/18. If we get the resorts we are wishing for :wizard: we have enough points to stay until 8/17.

I agree that if a price, roughly $225pp, meets your budget, why not book it Sunday, after checking your final resort decision?

More than likely that is what I will do. I was just wondering - based on others with more expierience - if they felt waiting for Airtran to release there August prices @ the end of the month was going to be cheaper.

Boy, am I glad I took everyones advise & booked it when I did.

They released some Airtran dates & if you factor in their baggage charge & seat assignment fee it is slightly more expensive than JetBlue.

The Jetblue flight just went up $150! :scared1:
