It's 85 degrees outside here again today, and I had to finally break down.

We've got ours at 76 degrees.

We've got vaulted ceilings, and it's been on for hours, but it's finally cooling down and is perfect in here! :beach:

Air conditioning during the summer -- 75 degrees
Heat during the winter -- 73 degrees (we turn it down to 68 at night)

It took 8 years of marriage to settle on those three numbers.

It takes a lot for me to turn the air on. I like sleeping with the windows open and am lucky because with the windows open I get a good breeze through the house.

When it creeps up over 85 I do have to turn it on and I keep the air at about 76. In the winter I have the heat at 65.

We use window air conditioners, but use them sparingly, as the ceiling fans seem to do enough. Our thermostat was 81F at lunch today, and it wasn't too bad.

In the winter we have the heat set at 62 when we're there, and 60 at night.

I grew up in a house where my parents set the heat at 72F. Now when I'm at their house I feel like I'm in a sauna.

68 in the summer - we loved to sleep in the cold (but only in the summer)

72/76 in the winter - depending on who controls the thermostat that day

When I turn mine on I set it at 72. I prefer to keep teh windows open though. In the winter DH and I are always at the thermostat. I keep it at 68 and he turns it up. He would keep it at 74 if I was not hanging out a window trying to cool off.

Mine stays at around 70-ish. Life is way too short for me to be hot.

In the winter I've got it at around something like 60-62. I can always put on a sweatshirt if it gets too cold, but I'm warm-natured so it has to get pretty darn cold to bother me.

76.

But I'm roasting at that number in my shop. I'd like it to be 68 in there.

summer we keep it at 72 usually. if DH isn't home i'll set it to 70 tho :lmao:

the heat we keep at 68 when we're at home/awake and when we leave or go to sleep we set it to 65

70 year round, ac or heat.

We do turn it up to 78 during the day if we are not home in the summer, and down to 62 during the day in the winter.

Around 67 in the summer, around 65 when the heat is on in the winter - though we often just leave it off in the cooler months. We like it cool! Our electric bills are terrible in the summer but we make up for it in the winter.

at one of my old jobs, the boss would keep the air at 78...IF she even turned it on! i swear there were days when i thought i was going to pass out. and she had a HEATER in her office with the doors closed!! DURING SUMMER!

it easily got up to 80 in the office, at times.

This has been an ongoing issue for us as DH is always HOT! I am happy to have the A/C off for much longer but I don't want him to be unhappy all summer. This week we hit upon a solution, we bought a small window unit for our bedroom. It is off when we aren't at home, I turn it on late afternoon and by the time DH comes home, our room is nice and chilly. This way we can leave the main A/C on at 73 and the house stays nice.

We like being cooler so the furnace is generally at 67 when we are awake, 65 at night.

80 in the summer but sometimes no AC at all. 74 in the winter, but it's a programmable thermostat so it's actually 65 during the day, 74 around 5:00 and then 70 at night.

we turn ours on as little as possible, usually only if it isn't going to cool down enough at night to sleep comfortably.

I would like to keep mine at a reasonable rate, but the only thermostat is downstairs and we have to turn it down quite a bit to keep the upstairs comfortable. We close all the vents downstairs and I have also started to cover some in an attempt to cool it more slowly downstairs and push more air upstairs. Thermostat is set where it is needed to turn on/stay on and cool the upstairs - usually somewhere in the low 70's.

(we keep the thermostat very low during the winter - 55. We have gotten used to it and we LOVE our energy bills. :) )

Since its not officially summer here in Chicago, I've started with the AC at 77. By July, it'll be down to 75 probably. In the winter we normally keep it at 71/72. I adjust it pretty frequently though, based on how the weather is here since it changes alot.

In the summer during the day it is between 76-78 and at night it goes up to 80. In the winter it varies from 66-68 all day depending on who is home ;)

I try to keep the AC at 73 during the summer, but I usually have to turn in down even more at night. I cannot stand to be hot while trying to sleep, and the bedrooms are on the second floor so it is always hotter up there. I would use the ceiling fan, but my DH hates the breeze it creates. Last night I woke up at 4 am sweating, so I turned the fan on. My DH was bundled up under the quilt, and I was sweating! In the winter I keep the heat at 68-69 degrees.

I can't imagine setting the AC to 78 or 80 like some people -- I would be the grumpiest, sweatiest, whiniest person in the work at those temperatures!

 Ours is the exact opposite.

We keep the C/A at 76, with the house closed up and ceiling fans running.

In the winter, we keep it at 68 all the time.
