Has anyone ever used one of those portable air conditioners (not the window kind, the kind that can be moved from room to room) in their tent trailer. Just curious, do you think it would work. It does have to be vented (has like a dryer hose that goes out a window or something), Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

BigDaddyRog had one in his tent on his recent trip. I am sure he will chime in soon.

I'm not sure what kind you are referring to do you have a link maybe?

I used one in a real tent last week(2 weeks I guess now)...it worked very well, so would probably be even better in a tent trailer. The temp got higher in the hottest part of the day, but was still 10degrees cooler than outside...If I would have covered our tent with a tarp (like many do, and I will next time we camp)I bet it would have been out right freezing. The remote control broke for my A/C after the first day and it froze us at night...but my wife refused to turn it off and told me to MAN UP and quit whining like a little girl!!!!! LOL

Youre absolutely right...thats why I shut the heck up and shivered like like I was having convulsions!!!!:lmao:

I keep our TT so cold my DW sleeps in a sleeping bag. But the elec. is free so why not freeze.:confused3

I hope this works:

If it doesn't show up go to Home Depot and look under air conditioners. I didn't realize just how many are available now. I might be able to talk DH into the air/heat one for the garage. After I get my new floors that is.

What's funny, is if you look at the ad at the top of this thread, it's for portable air conditioners. That's all you have to do is click that link :hyper:

clkelly that is too funny, I didn't even notice that. Thanks everyone for the info. I hate spending money and then having something not work. Although, I guess if it doesn't work in the trailer, you could always use it at home somewhere. Hey, do you have to empty a pail or get a drain hose or something with these? Any recommendations on a good brand??

I have 1 simular to this one

I found it at the Christmas tree shops for $389 mine is a 1200 BTU and it also has a 9500 BTU heater in it. It should work great in a pop-up or tent
you can hook up a drain hose or empty the internal holding tank every 3rd of 4th day.

Mine looks just like that...made by Haier....7000btu....only 298 on walmart .com
unfortunately, I had to return it because of the remote(thats my story, and Im sticking to it!!)

What happened to the remote?

Did you take it pool hopping with you to WL?

OR

Did you drop it into the canal while fishing and a gator ate it?

OR

Did you back over it with the GREEN HORNET golf cart?

:cool1: Ok so I'm going out this week to get one. What btu do you suggest I get for a tent trailer with a 12' box (opens to open 25')? Any brand anyone is suggesting or suggests not to buy? Thanks everyone. any features you would suggest or some you don't need? don't need one with a heating feature, we have a furnace in the trailer (good old Canadians need heat more than air)

My pop up has a 13500 And it struggles in the FL heat! with out help. I use solor covers and they allow the AC to work. With out the covers no way. My pop up is 26 feet open and has a slide out. I keep curtians closed and the awanning out to help keep the inside as cool as I can.

I never thought, am I going to be blowing fuses or worse (blowing out the campsite) is there going to be enough ampage with just a regular trailer site??

LOL...honestly, I dont know what happened to it...we unpacked the AC at the campground, hookd it up and everything was fine...but didnt have AAA batteries for the remote, so we just let it run as it was without adjusting the temperature till we hit walmart the next morning. Next day we installed the batteries, and turned the AC to its lowest(coldest) setting just to see what this baby had.....but the middle of that night....the sucker had our tent down to 66degrees!!!! I woke up and grabbed the remote to raise the temp a little....and it just did NOTHING, I figured maybe something was sitting on the remote holding a button down and ran the battery all the way down, so I replaced the batteries again, but it still did nothing....so we froze every night, but its better to freeze than sweat. I called to have the remote replaced, after a week of them trying to contact the manufacturer, they offered me a $25 rebate.....but the AC would STILL be set to 60degrees, and their was no way to adjust that without the remote which was apparently unobtainable...so I returned the whole unit. But I WILL DEFINATELY get another one before we go on another tent trip in the summer.

I'm thinking about getting one of those portable jobbies from Cabella's. I think they're 80.00 or so.
