We just booked a flight to MCO with Air Canada. I've never flown Air Canada (just Air Transat & Canadian) before so I wonder if someone could give me some insight? Is there more leg room on AC than on Air Transat? Do they serve meals (it's a mid morning flight)? Do they have TV's for watching? Thanks!!

We flew Air Canada last Feb. Previously we had only flown on Air transat. Im 5'9" and have long legs. There was definately more leg room on AC. I didn't feel quite as clausterphobic. Mind you, we were on a 767, so maybe Air Canada's smaller planes would be as cramped as AT. We flew down at around 10am or so. We were served nice sandwiches for lunch. On the way home I believe we departed at around 1pm...we were served a bag of chips and a drink. There is a TV...they were showing short programs, not a full length movie. If you go to the AC website, you can get a look at the layout of your plane. It mentions which movies are playing, but I think that may be only for longer flights. By the way, the earphones are FREE on Air Canada. There are some other travelling tips on their site as well. We also used the express check in, anyone can use it, it tells you how in the website. It was GREAT. I don't know why anyone waits in line. I guess its kind of like fast Pass...some people dont get it, or think you have to pay more for it. If we can get another good rate on AC, I would definately choose them over AT.

Thank you! My flight times are very similar to yours so I'd imagine the food will be similar. Glad you liked the e-tickets idea so much! We are trying this time for the first time! Yeah!

I flew down on an AC 8:00 PM flight in May and didn't get much in the way of food ... I was given a choice of chips, pretzels or a chocolate bar ... and the usual beverages. I thought it was rather cheap of them, considering we had to leave at 4:30 PM (just in case of traffic  ) and didn't have much time to stop for food along the way. My boyfriend was not pleased with the legroom ... and he's 6'0, I even got business class seats because I thought he would be happy with that ... Next time we'll just sit by the emergency exits or something

Coming back, on an 8:00 AM flight we were given lots of breakfast foods... a yogurt, juice, coffee, a hot sandwich (think of a McDonald's bagel sandwich), an apple and juice ...

There's a TV ... They showed The National, Fraiser, French News and an exercise program ...

Ohmygosh..........really? They actually showed an exercise program??? That doesn't sound very good to me while we're all feeling practically claustrophobic! Thanks for the warning though. Dh is also 6ft so I should warn him about the lack of legroom maybe? Yikes! Better to be prepared. Thanks!

If anyone hears about an AC seat sale please let us know.

I'm looking for 2003!!

Don't limit yourself to Air Canada. We (family of 6) were going to fly out of Calgary but everything from this airport was very expensive. Started checking around and found a flight out of Spokane with Delta. The 8 hour drive on each end might seem like a lot but the saving to our family was $2000+.

If flying out of the states is possible for you, check the websites of the various U.S. airlines serving your area.

Also check expedia.ca. I got seats on United Airlines vs. Air Canada for $120 less per person and much better options for the times of the flights.
By the way, the Air Canada price was not the original one quoted to me - originally, the difference was $300 per person. I guess they recently dropped their prices.

I've also found prices on expedia.ca to be cheaper as well but also check with the Air Canada website as a reference.

I will put in a shamless plug for the relatively new site
destina.ca (hope they are DIS users)

I used it to compare pricing and trip times and was able to pick
the best rate.

These rates change hourly(really) so be prepared to act fast
but...

Many flights are non-refundable so be comitted to going and be comited to your dates.

I got Ottawa-Orlando DIRECT(really) for $ 590 all included.
in late December.

Have look

:bounce:

Thanks for the tip.

I'll check it out.

Air Canada has a business class seat sale, where the prices approach some economy class prices (although not the cheapest seat sale prices). See link for more details. Flights must be booked online, must include a Sat night stay. Flights must be completed by Dec. 16.
