Any options of Air Canada?

I can surprise my dad, and pay OH so much less by flying on Air Canada. It is a lot cheaper if I fly this way (under $325/pp one way- at one point, I saw $235/pp for one way {Do the prices always jump like this??) on their cheapest seats. Have they ever blocked a seat if your flying with an under 2? Alaska has but stinks ya in the last 2 very tiny seats LOL. Forget what they call them, but they feel 1/2 the size as the next row up :)
There are 4 of us flying. Right now to fly to the closest city on Alaska Airlines is appx $489/pp and then jumps up another couple hundred). Plus I've got then take a ferry to go up to my dad's :)

I can have my dad drive up and pick us up in Whitehorse, vs having to fly Alaska Air, make a change in Seattle (a long, long, long walk), haul stuff on the ferry. We would have one or 2 stop overs depending (they fly once a week right now). Sometimes it said JUST Los Angeles, and other times (I've been checking dates) LA and British Columbia.

I wish I had an upgrade. Those seats look nice!! But honestly, It is going to be me, my 19 yo, a 2yo and a 3 year old. Are the chairs comfy for a long, long flight??

I've never flow through Canada... but I am liking the thoughts of it. Any yeah/neah??

The money rates are changing daily. I hope I can still go for under the going Alaska Airlines rates.

Maybe ask this question on the Transportation Board.
I do know if someone buys a ticket online, and then someone else tries to buy a ticket, the price keeps climbing until their is a roll-over the following week. Buying tickets online is like a gamble. What are you comfortable with.

I fly Air Canada - a lot. Enough to have frequent flyer status on them. Although it is a national past time to whinge about AC, I've never had a major problem with them (and usually have very nice flights).

Which aircraft would you be flying? Makes a difference in terms of comfort. Most of their aircraft have been retrofitted relatively recently and I find them more roomy/comfortable then most US based airlines.

In general, seat selection at the time you purchase your ticket is free (unless you buy the very cheapest fare type, which is unlikely to even be available for your routing). Thus, you can choose your child's seat (and yours).

As I said, I fly them quite often, so let me know if you have any questions.

The prices will change often.
Usually the best price days are Tue/Wed/Sat.
Watch out for the taxes tho they can double the price of a ticket.

Nothing wrong with flying with Air Canada tho. Did you try WestJet? They fly to LA not sure if they go to Whitehorse. (I'm always trying to find seat sales to go south).

Air Canada partners with United, Continental, and USAirways...that means if you have a frequent flyer number with any of those airlines, you can get milage credit fo flying on AC. For instance, I have a United frequent flyer number, if I flew on Air Canada I could earn United miles. I know that doesn't help you with pricing, but if you're flying all that way and paying all that money, you may as well get credit! :)

Sent you a PM :)

Do they credit you if the prices drop before you leave? I do not know about Canada, but in the US they do, if bought through the company (not a place like Priceline).

No, unless you buy a refundable ticket they will not credit you the difference (neither, by the way, will many US carriers).

Air Canada is just fine. We've flown from Calgary to Whitehorse on AC. They have seat back tvs! The only word of caution I have is if you're a nervous flyer, do not book the flight if it is on a Dash-8 prop plane.

Westjet does not fly to Whitehorse.

Air North does fly to Whitehorse.

The cheapest we can find flights is about $500-600/person round trip from Calgary to give you an idea of cost.

ETA: If the price of the flight changes, you can get a credit BUT... you have to pay a change fee for each ticket so it's not usually worth it.
