Air Canada didn't make the deadline...

If AC doesn't make it, and they need to liquidate, does that also include their Zip, Tango, etc. airlines? Will they all be liquidated as well?

My guess would be yes as the parent comapny they would have to liquidate all assets which would include all those you have listed.

As far as I can tell they all go-and I have also been told by my TA
that if you have booked a United Airlines flight from YYZ to MCO-it might very well be operated by Air Canada too-so check your UA tickets. If AC goes you might have to rebook your UA flights too.

I just called my bank's visa officer-they said if I booked through a travel agent and used my visa card to pay for the tickets-visa will reimburse me-real easy and quick (same thing happened when Canada 3000 went bankrupt a few years ago-it was easier and quicker to get your $ back from Visa than through TICO).

Ihope for you 2 Janet and DisneyLisa that they get it worked out or atleast make it easy to get your money back.

Does it not make a difference if you paid online with a credit card??

But this confirms what I though about a "story" my brother's GF told me. A friend of hers is booked on AC to fly out here from California at XMas. They booked it online. GF told me a few weeks ago that she called AC and someone there told her not to worry - if the airline goes under they would put her on another flight. I had two problems with that

#1) Air Canada employess would not be permitted to discuss a "what if" scenario with a customer, since the airline has been trying to put on the face of "everything will be fine".

#2) I had already been told that online bookings were SOL, but I wasn't positive about the credit card.

You can't get something out of nothing!

If it was Fraud, they could take it out of their special fund but since CC does not classify this as fraud. Which I beg to differ! They sold me tickets on the pretence that they were a safe bet! HUH! If that's not fraud!

PS Even if you had cancellation insurance with the CC it won't cover Bankrupsy(sp)!

They are still sending out e-mails to have you book with them!

Unbelievable!

That's because they're trying to show investors, and everyone else that upcoming flights are being booked. Which means they have revenue coming in, right? They're not going to admit publicly that they're sunk until it's actually happening... until they are cancelling flights and selling stuff off.

If I had to book right now, I would be going nowhere near AC. Yes, it's a Canadian company and I would like to support them, but I can't afford to support them to the extent that I'm taking a chance on being out a couple thousand dollars.

Isn't CAW the same union that killed WARDAIR and CANADA 3000? hhhhmmmmmmm

As much as I dislike the CAW's current position. To blame the CAW for the demise of Wardair and C3000 is really stretching things. Wardair and C3000 fell victim to their own expansion out of their charter niches, incurring heavy debt that couldn't be sustained against competition for AC, CP and PWA.

PWA eventually bought out Wardair before they could collapse.

C3000 ran out of cash so quickly that they didn't even get a chance at reorganization.

Yipee-reached a tentative deal just before 8pm!!

Tomorrow's not quite as scary now-but will still have to wait and see.

Is it enought to keep the investors still interested?

Oh I hope so!

I'm pretty sure I read that they made the required cuts. Milton wasn't going to settle for anything less than that required to meet the requirements of the investors.
