AAE are a relatively new player on the charter scene, although they have done occasional work for Virgin and Excel in the recent past. They are due to be flying Boeing 747-200s later this summer, which should guarantee a decent level of comfort on a par with TCD's own EAL service (although I don't think it has the excellent Sunshine First cabin option). They are a Gatwick-based subsidiary of Air Atlanta Icelandic, who I'm afraid I don't know at all. They will be non-stop flights to Orlando Sanford and ought to have TCD's in-flight service (free drinks, headphones and meals in all cabins) as well. I don't think this should be any cause for concern :)

Here's what their website says:

Air Atlanta Europe Ltd. (AAE) is a UK registered company wholly owned by Air Atlanta Icelandic, a company based in Iceland and privately owned by Icelandic citizens. AAE is based at London Gatwick and will operate flights from Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow. It currently has three Boeing 767-200 aircraft, registered G-SATR, G-BOPB and G-BNYS, with three Boeing 747-200s to be added to the UK register later this summer.

AAE is primarily a wet-lease operator supplying other airlines with extra capacity. It has contracts with Excel Airways and Virgin Atlantic and will also operate charter flights under its own flight numbers, prefix EUK, during the summer. In addition any of the parent company’s aircraft that fly into the UK will operate under the control of AAE.

It holds a UK air operator’s certificate and JAR-OPS 1 accreditation.

Of course it should say ATLANTA

Thanks Simon for the great info.

Anyone out there flown with them?

I flew with Air Atlanta to Cyprus in 1999 and they were ok from what I remember.

I am flying with them on a 747 to the Dominican republic in September and they DO have a service similar to Premium Economy with a 40" seat pitch (Virgin is 38") I have upgraded to this as I feel it is well worthe the money.

When I called up Expedia a few months ago to enquire about flights to Orlando, about half of the Virgin ones from Manchester were marked as being code-shares, then when you clicked on the link it said they were being run by Air Atlanta on behalf of Virgin.

As far as I'm concerned, if Virgin trust them to do their flights, then they must be fairly good.

Hi, Disney Owl,
We flew from M/chester with Air Atlanta through TCD coming back on this Wednesday am. We got the chance to upgrade just a few days before to the Sunshine Upper which was a bonus and very enjoyable too. It was my birthday the day we flew back and the steward made some little touches to make it special which was much appreciated. The flights left and arrived on time both ways apart from a delay for 10 mins on the runway due to a thunderstorm at the Orlando end. Flights uneventful apart from problems with the inflight movies outward bound for which all passengers reveived a free drink to compensate for lack of. We did see the main cabin and seat pitch appeared to be better than most.
Any questions please ask away.
We stayed in a villa and went to Clearwater beach for the last 5 days which were all very enjoyable and problem free.
