Being still paranoid about my wifes visions of beach bumming and knowing we are sailing in January, I am wondering what air and water temps. What would you believe to be the lowest air and water temps for comfortable beach and water enjoyment?
I can't give you any specifics of air/water temperatures but we have sailed 3 times (soon to be 4) in January. Only once was the temperature not suitable at Castaway Cay for swimming, all other times it was great.
to the Passporter, the Caribbean weather chart on page 33 reads
that January lows are 62F/17C and highs are 77F/25C...It claims this is based on historical averages and I would guess that this is for air... I didnt see anything closeby about the water.
Don't know how accurate this really is, but I hope it helps you out....
We sailed in early February of this year and the weather was fantastic! We did find the water at Castaway Cay a little too cool for our tastes but I think part of that wa because we knew we were coming back in May and could snorkel then. We spent two wonderful days relaxing on the beach reading books. Many others went in and enjoyed the water.
The air temp at Castaway Cay this past week was in the 70's. It was probably about 76-78 at the heat of the day. The water was too cold for me, I am a Florida girl. My husband and kids went in. They came out with their teeth chattering, but as I said, we are from Florida. There were plenty of people in the water swimming, and they didn't seem to mind at all.
Was it windy? I am curious what those temps feel like with this notorious Carribean intensity. Were most people in swimsuits? Were most people swimming? Thanks
We're done 4 Disney cruises in Jan/Feb, and only once was the weather "too cool" for my comfort. The others were wonderful, both on land and in the water. Guess you can get a cold spell any time, but I wouldn't let a Jan sail date worry me!
It was breezy, not windy. I understand that the week before, they couldn't even dock at CC because of the wind. Yes, all were in swimsuits, and quite a few were in the water. We didn't have wind problems until our day at sea, when the boat did do some rocking, esp at night.
