We are flying to Disney after 3 yrs of driving. Where has anyone found the best deals. We're flying from PHL with 3 adults 2 kids and 1 baby. Should we book through Disney or what?

I just booked through Southwest from Baltimore for $49 a person. There are four of us going. Philadelphia is closer but for that price I don't mind the drive down. Good luck with booking!!!

are you driving your own car down or renting? If you drive yours then you will have to pay for parking and I don't even wanna know how much that is!! That's a good idea though. I'm gonna check it out

Do NOT book your airfare through disney. You will find much better rates on your own through airlines like Southwest and others. Just keep hanging out around here as well as the transportation board to find out about the best deals from carriers.

HI! I am from South Jersey and have been looking for airfare cheap also! Southwest has a awesome deal right now! Unfortunately you have to travel before August 22nd and we're not leaving until November 5th! I believe Southwest will be booking for November sometime around May or June! Also Airtran out of Phila usually has really good deals they are booking thru November right now and have $79.00 each way available! I'm still debating if I want to book that or wait to see if I can get better! We are going for what is known as Jersey week and I've been told by a few that I won't get better! So I don't know what to do! My theory is if not we'll just drive leave at 5am and arrive at 7pm! But with two kids that won't be much fun! I just hate to pay $800 dollars if I could get a better deal like what is being offered now! at that point! So just so you know If you we're going any later than august you cannot yet book southwest specials ! But Airtran you can!

:flower:

We're going in June from Philly. Best I could do was Southwest for $250 R/T per person. Booked about a week ago, and all of the ultra low fares were gone already. Also looked into driving to BWI, AC, or Lehigh Valley but no benny there and there is always Parking.

If you can catch a super rate from BWI do the trade off between that and Philly or even renting a car for the drive to BWI, then just drop it off there.

In the end we went for convenience. No driving, not long trips or connecting flights. Even have a stretch limos showing up to drive us to/from PHL. (Shhhhh Mom & boys know nothing of it) :rolleyes1 .

Jersey Week in Disney is when the kids here have off The first or second week of November on Thursday and Friday which this year uit is the 11th and the 12th! For the NJEA Convention! I did not know until reading some posts that they called it this! I guess because the kids are off 2 days and most families go for the weeek that is why it is called Jersey week! Same reason we are going then! Plus the fact I work for the State and have off on the 8th for election day and the 11th for veterans day! That I think pretty much sums up Jersey week!

go Jersey week...just not good for DH. As far as airfares, my neighbor just told me she got a $129.00/one way from Airtran out of Philly. She's looking for better for August but can't come up with much. Last yr she got a great rate out of AC.

We are driving for the first time this year....We'll see how that goes. We've flown in the past but unless we wind up getting a really good rate, we'll do the car trip.

forgot to post in my earlier post that a friend just told me of a $49.00 fare but don't know with who or when it expires. Seems to be a number of us in our neighborhood all looking for cheap airfare....

It's through Southwest out of Philadelphia ! It is good thru August I believe! Hopefully they'll have that for November! Airtran has $79 fares one way but I'm waiting for cheaper! Call me cheap! I'll drive if I have to that's my last resort but we haven't flown in 4 years and the price has almost tripled! We flew out of AC 4 yrs ago with 6 people and only paid around $800-$900 and now for 5 people out of AC on Spirit is $1870! And Airtran out of Philadelphia is $884.50! Big difference! I'd go thru PHila before AC ! :)

I can't believe how many of us are from South Jersey!!! We were going to drive but I couldn't pass up the $49 one way flight out of Baltimore. Dh and I don't mind driving and if it gets us there faster we're all for it for almost the same price as driving.

Problem I found when recently booking PHL - MCO was that the real low fares had very few seats available, and non on flight times that we wanted. Going there, the only flights that had the $49-$79 price were the flights 4pm and later, which loses the entire day there. Returning the only flights with the small fares were the early flights, pre noon, which loses the last day there.

We wanted to go ealry (though not too early, we book the 11 am flight) and return late (we booked the 7:30 pm flight). For those flights we got $250 R/T each.

One interesting note was that the $49 internet special they just posted had seats on the flight Im taking...just not the dates. Those fares expire on 16June. We fly on 19 June. I suppose that since we're going in the peak summer season, it is unlikely that we'll see the same kind of internet specials for our time frame (leave 6/19, return 7/1), but we'll be watching. Talked to SW last night and confirmed that our tix are refundable type and if a special comes up we can switch and get a cash credit for the difference. Keep you fingers crossed.

89 days to go !!!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc  :disrocks:

Southwest stablized the phl rates but for the really low fares there are just a few seats available...like most of the airlines....

What are your days??? most of the days in June I have looked at were either $119 R/T or $176 R/T....$250 is outrageous to pay on SW....they have so many great deals....I'd check again to see if the price has gone down and get my refund...

Thanks Mrs. Zurg !!

We flying out 19 June. Returing July 1

If you can point me to where you saw the lower fares, I'd appreciate it. Time of the flight is important to us too. Mrs Z doesn't want to leave @ 6am, and we'd like to fly back as late as possible. Mabe those design restictions are whats keeping my price up.

TIA

Just a little note to everyone. Rumor has it that airfare will be going up here soon to offset the upward rise of fuel. I don't know how true this is but I wasn't taking any chances and purchased our airfare today, just in case. I did get a great deal out of Pittsburgh to Orlando for Sept., with tax and all fees it came out to be $182.60 per person. This was throught AirTran. I hope this helps somebody out there.

Just wondering, how many Jersey people go to WDW during Jersey week? We will be there during the same period for DD's 9th birthday. Hope it isn't TOO crowded for us to enjoy our trip. :confused3

We booked our airfare through disney and our fare was $250 less than anywhere else I had checked. I checked all the travel sites and the airline sites also. We are paying $746 round trip for 4 from Kansas City. Its high but the $1000 I would have paid was worse IMO. Its even cheaper than AirTran and Southwest was way higher :earseek:

Yeah, but you may end up going MCI-->MCO via BWI when you book thru Disney. They will find the absolute cheapest way to send you even if it means inconvenient flight times and multiple stops. And you will not know what your flight times will be until you receive your trip packet. After flying on a little 2-prop plane from PHL-->BWI and changing to a jet there, I swore that I'd never let any travel agency handle my flights again!

zdad,
For future trips, you might want to keep in mind that traveling on a Tuesday or Wednesday is generally less crowded than other days of the week. If your schedule is at all flexible, you can generally get better fares by flying on those days. For instance, SWA still has plenty of $49 fares from PHL-->MCO if you depart on Wednesday 6/15 and all of the flights on Tuesday 6/14 are available at that fare.

Also, flying into Orlando in the evening and staying one night at an airport hotel can be less expensive than flying during "prime time" the following day. You can check out of the airport hotel early and get to WDW in time to have breakfast with Mickey. We've done it before because we use FF miles those flights can be very restrictive. It's actually not bad.
