Aidan's wish trip to Tink's home 3/1-3/7

LOVING THE LIMO COMPANY! How exciting t ride in a limo. I remember when I found out we were going to ride in the limo the feeling of WOW!! Seriously!! lol. It was so hard to imagine how it would be.

I love how your Wish chapter does things. They really go all out to make it magical.

Thanks, guys! Just a quick update. We got a few packages in the mail today. Well, actually, the packages were over my mail lady's head. :rotfl: We got a package from Crystal (AlternateEgo), a package from Margaret (MCazer), and two packages from "W" in Wyoming (Sorry that I don't know a name or username. Maybe "W" will chime in or hopefully something will be on the inside of one of the boxes.) A big THANKS to all three of you! Only a few more days until we can open all of them and post pictures! :woohoo:

Aidan's wish volunteer called me last night to go over a few things before Friday's reveal. The first question asked was whether Aidan could ride a bike or scooter. Apparently, Aidan's sponsor has set up an obstacle course. They will give Aidan a bike or scooter at the beginning of the course and he will ride through in his search for Tink's pixie dust.

Then, she asked that we find someone to keep Peyton during the reveal party. :sad1: I really don't want to leave Peyton out, but I understand their reasoning. Being that Peyton is only 3, he will not understand all of the attention being on Aidan. And he will want the gifts that Aidan is given. In the end, Chris or I would tend to Peyton which takes our attention away from Aidan. And MAW wants Aidan to be in the spotlight, so to speak. I'm a little disappointed, but a friend of mine said that she will keep Peyton for us Friday afternoon. Keegan is going to go, but they said to talk to him ahead of time and let him know that the reveal party is for Aidan only; that he'll get a surprise at the end, but that the party is for Aidan. But the thing is that after the reveal party, we've got two days of getting ready and then 7 days of fun!!!! :yay::yay::yay:

She asked me something else, but I can't for the life of me remember what. So, now we are just waiting for Friday! Thanks to all of you who are still reading. I know my PTR is not the most interesting so far --I'm just not able to post a lot yet. Friday will change that some. ;)

Bit of a bummer that Peyton can't be there but I can understand that they want Aidan to be the start of the show and Peyton won't understand that.

But hey, Friday's gonna be great, and not long to go now! :)

Hmmm, that's a little odd IMHO. It should be your decision if your child can handle it or not. And even if he can't, it's your family and you should be able to deal with it how you choose. Would your friend be able to take him home early, before the gifts start? I just feel bad leaving him out. Sounds like a VERY fun party though. Hurray for a stack of packages!

That is so awesome about the limo company! Woo-hoo!! It's so wonderful to hear stories like that!

I'm so excited for the "big reveal"!! The note from Tinkerbell is SO cute!!

As for leaving Peyton at home- I can't believe they told you to do that. Sawyer (my 3 year old) would be so upset if he missed a party. He understands when it's his sister's birthday that he won't receive presents and he's never had an issue with it (not even last year when he was 2). I would hate to leave him out of an important event like this! So, I would think if Peyton is okay with presents at birthday parties, he would be okay with this party. I think that decision is up to you, as his parent, and you should do what you feel comfortable with.

I must have gotten behind :( I'm so glad they got you a stroller and WAY to Go on the Limo :-) Your trip is soooo close :-)
:yay:
:woohoo::yay:

Can't wait to see Friday's pics. I don't think Our MAW does a party.. Soundslike a blast and I too think you should be the one to decide if Peyton should go or not.

Hi Miranda!!

I have to agree with the others. When I just read your update, I was mad (thats me not using a swear word :)!!! I can't believe they had the audacity to say that to you.

We have always believed that this trip is as much about our other kids as it is Brigitte. I left those kids literally crying at the doorstep begging me not to take Brigge to the hospital Friday night. They may not have the physical scars that Brigitte has, but you bet your *** that they have they emotional ones....that is sometimes worse.

And as far as the other boys not getting gifts, seriously?? They can't include them. If it was me, I would be steaming inside, and never say anything for fear of not being greedy. But, these are adults who should no that it is not right at all not to include the other kids. GKTW doesn't, MAW doesn't, so their sponsors shouldn't either.

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox. I hope I didn't make it worse!!

That basically sums it up for me, too. I think it's lousy that they're making the decision for you. I hope that you truly are okay with Peyton staying with a friend and that you don't feel pushed into it. On the one hand, he doesn't really know what he's missing, but on the other, I would think that it's difficult for you not to have your whole family together.:grouphug:

Thanks, guys. I think maybe I phrased my update a little wrong, probably because I was upset about not taking Peyton myself. The sponsors had prepared the reveal party to include all three of our kids. However, our MAW chapter's 'policy' says that the reveal party is for the wish child only. We weren't told that we definitely couldn't bring Peyton. We were just told that it was "strongly recommended" because they didn't want him to feel left out or slighted. Our wish volunteer said that she had only had one reveal party where younger siblings were included and that the parents were unable to fully participate in the party due to caring for those younger siblings. She went on to say that sometimes the parents choose to not bring any siblings at all.

So, while the decision is ultimately ours, I guess I'm of the mindset that I don't want to push it. I don't want them to think that we aren't focused on Aidan, I don't want them to feel that we are going against their recommendations, and I definitely don't want them to think that we are ungrateful for all they are doing.

I am upset about not taking Peyton, but at the same time, he will be staying with a friend of mine that he loves. She has young boys and he'll have fun while the rest of us go. And then, I think we can more than make up for it when we get home and start opening all of our Big Give presents. So, while I would've liked to have had him with us, I think everything will work out okay anyway. And this is just the beginning of probably the BEST week of the kids' lives. Hopefully, as a 3 year old, he won't realize what he's missing as far as the reveal party, and it won't matter anyway once he realizes what next week holds.

Thank you all for the support. While I share the same feelings as all of you, I think it will still work out fine in the long run.

Just caught up with your PTR...The limo company is great!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 That is going to so cool the kids will be shocked!! I can't believe this is all a secret!!! I could never keep it...I ordered gift baskets for our kids for Brian's trip today and I have almost slipped about 5 times already!!!

I am looking forward to your updates!!

As long as it works for you, Miranda, that's what counts. I admire you for being able to put your initial upset aside and move on from there. That being said, I do agree with what everyone has said. Woohoo for the Big Give party when you get home, hopefully that will put everything on the upswing again! So looking forward to meeting you guys in 8 days!!

I understand them "warning" you about some sibs being upset at the party, but that's where it should've ended. Not them discouraging you from bringing him. I have no problem with a parent leaving a kid home if they want to, but to be discouraged kinda bugs me. You're right, when you get home and open the Big Give stuff he'll be thrilled anyway.

I didn't realize that you will have all the Big Give stuff for when you get home. For some reason, I thought that was happening at the reveal party. So it will be like another party all in itself! I'm glad you have good arrangements for Peyton - I know you will have such a great time on Friday night!

Miranda, somehow I missed your One week left dance so here's some dancin for ya. :cheer2::cool1::banana::woohoo::yay:party::dancer::tink: I had to add the Tink in there for Aidan.

We got Aidan's stroller / push chair finally! :woohoo: Talk about cutting it close! I absolutely  this stroller! I'm going to put some pictures below, but it is called a Special Tomato EIO push chair. It is going to be perfect for Aidan. It has a 5 point harness and hip and back lateral support. The handle is adjustable, so no more sore back for me because of a too-short stroller handle. It also has a foot rest, which will be great for when Aidan gets muscle spasms in his legs/feet. And, it will lay back completely for sleeping or laying down when tired. The only thing that I wish it had, but doesn't is a parent tray or cup holder, but I guess that's not a big feature when you graduate to the push chair. And my absolute favorite feature is that it doesn't look like a special needs chair as much as some others do. I mean, it's not a regular stroller either, but I love that it has a little bit of style to it. As promised, here are pictures:

Notice how high the foot rest elevates!

Just wanted to share. Of course we've only had it a minute, but I think it's going to be perfect! And I'm so glad that we got it in time for Disney!

Glad it finally got there!

Looks good too, I personnally wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't a regular stroller.

Mucho cool.
