AI is evolving all the time. I personally use it to help me generate a logo for my business and come up with therapeutic hypnotic scripts. I even use it to come up with music tracks. Of course, it's not perfect and you can tell that the scripts and music tracks are computer generated, but they're not a far cry. Just add a personal touch and you really have something.

Every computer program did not suddenly become an example of AI. Many tech companies seem to have jumped on the AI bandwagon in an effort to drive up their stock price. Every article I read seems to define AI differently.

I'm addressing the topic in a general sense, inspired by the New Scientist. More advanced algorithms can actually be used to generate Deep Fakes, such as the one that mimicked Joe Biden advising the public not to vote in the election just passed. AI is more advanced than you think. As I said, I have used it and continue to use it to generate royalty free images, music tracks and the basis for therapeutic scripts. Again, not perfect but now a definite force for good or bad.

AI "art" is putting real artists out of work.

AI "articles" are putting real journalists out of work.

AI "music" is putting real musicians out of work.

Information too. By 2025, 95% of all search engine results will be AI driven, they say.

Fortunately, AI STILL has its flaws, as amazing as it has become. From the point of view of a therapist, AI can generate therapeutic scripts and they're not bad… but there's no substitute for human creations. You can tell when AI has written your script. Good for me that is!

Humans have flaws, machines not so much. For every negative aspect of AI, there will be hundreds of benefits. We’re in the second inning of a nine inning game -the next 2-decades will be remarkable as chips become faster and we apply AI to crunch massive amounts of data for positive solutions that humans simply could never perform.

If I may?

I deliver therapeutic session to clients, be they hypnotherapy, life coaching or NLP therapy. Say you have a client who you want to hypnotise in order to address their fear of spiders. You can try to get AI to write a script and it's not half bad. Thing is though, AI has more flaws than humans. I would never deliver an AI written script. Too many mistakes - using public AI modules that is. For example, I tried to generate a Vertigo script a week back, see what I'm up against. Just not good enough. Repetitive, incoherent and just plain wrong. In the same way AI generated music isn't quite there yet. It's impressive - I have created 9 tracks in my signature - but for some reason they never develop or go anywhere,

Of course, there are computational models where AI surpasses humans. Definitely. I just wouldn't use it yet where a human touch cannot be surpassed.

Today….

And you will NEVER have the ability to analyze a persons makeup and compare it to millions of other samples to develop the best “script” for that type of patient. AI will. AI is already being looked at to predict things like lung cancer in patients way before any doctor ever could….

What can I tell you? As a therapist, I find that AI falls short of creating a decent script for my clients. Not to say that it doesn't excel in other fields though!

I’m not arguing with you. I’m just telling you that in time, AI will have the potential to write a better script …I don’t know anything about hypnotherapy, but if AI can foresee cancer in individuals years before any doctor ever could, there’s a good chance writing a script won’t be that big of a deal. Watch the video….

They way people use the term AI these days is total crap. There is still no such thing as 'AI'. It is just a new way to quickly aggregate and output results from a huge amount of data.

The problem is that it all depends on the data being crunched. When the data is mostly flawed - Like all the data available on line today - then the results suck. The great danger of AI is not that it can think for itself - it can't - it is who is controlling the biased data it draws from to complete tasks.

Unfortunately, most people today are too stupid to realize that most data is flawed or manipulated so they just sheep along believing whatever they read online.

That’s true to a degree. But if that’s the case, what’s the difference if a human interprets bad data or a machine? One difference is that a machine may misinterpret only once, where a human could do it an infinite amount of times. Also, AI driven machines are more than capable of learning …in fact, they learn and don’t forget. This will be useful in medicine, autonomous vehicles, warfare, and hundreds of other industries. I suppose I’m an unabashed honk, but it boils down to what’s realistic -and every major player that’s in our pockets is 100% in.

As I have said - indeed, it was the entire point of the thread - AI has advanced in leaps and bounds recently. Just search on Google to see this. My first experience with AI was with Chat GPT and how it could supplant the human mind in coursework in my studies. I never put it to the test as that would have been cheating, but it was interesting to see what it came up with. Not perfect, but very interesting. The best evolution was in AI detection - you can now feed a script through an algorithm, ironically powered by AI, that detects computer aided or created text. It's constantly evolving, in a war between AI generation and plagiarism. It actually took it's first head a few weeks back in a local University - the cheater pleaded that he had no time in his studies to write an entire dissertation, which I can sympathise with. On the other hand, if people are using AI to write their work whilst I am studying and submitting actual work, that's a little annoying.

Then in my life came AI image generation. Started off laughable - the best free tool made some terrible mistakes. But the pro stuff was far more serious. I have personally used it to generate a logo for my therapeutic business, and I have become rather attached to it! No royalties to pay, never going to be copied (I hope!) Very useful so far and I await its advances with bated breath.

Three more advances. First came AI voice generations. Again, impressive, but not to the point where I could use it. I tried to apply it to give voice to long therapeutic scripts - it would have been amazing for those that are over 2 hours in length - but it sounds so robotic sadly. One to revisit.

Then came, AI music. Free. Can't argue with that. Actually sounds rather convincing. I mean, you can tell that it's computer generated - the free stuff at least. But even so, it's pretty amazing. I've been creating 10 tracks a day for a few weeks and so far 9 have stood out and been uploaded to my site. I like them! They have flaws, yes, but they're pretty damn cool. And again, royalty free! Personal to my specifications too! So a thumbs up here. Not perfect, but watcha gonna do?

Finally, we have Deep Fakes. Put an advanced enough computer behind it and you can generate pretty much anything and these videos can be near perfect. As I said, there was one video of Biden telling people to stay at home and not to vote - were it not for the fact that it was perplexing, this could have done some real damage. Put enough computing power behind it and you can do pretty much anything.

To summarise, AI IS coming on in leaps and bounds. Free constructs leave something to be desired and are detectable but that's not to slam them. It's a bit of a war ATM, between Universities and students, with both leapfrogging the other. But give it time and there's no telling what it can do.

I’ve been using AI for more practical business stuff, like automating repetitive tasks and handling customer interactions with AI chatbots. It's not flawless, but it’s a great starting point for saving time on things that used to take forever manually. The key is finding tools that match your workflow so you’re not just adding complexity instead of saving time.

Welcome! The chatbots are driving me to find a way to call as opposed to chat for success. The ones I've encountered tend to go in circles and are repetitive, and just spew what I've already read in faq's and descriptions, especially when shopping. Of course, I'm just writing from a lay perspective and not from any professional need, just as a consumer.

Based on my experience I'm just starting to ignore them.

I agree, the few chatbots for 'customer service' I have tried to use were worthless and just went around in circles. I still like to ask for a 'representative' so I can finally get directed to a real person when I have a question that isn't easily answered on their website. Typically when I need to content a company it is because of some situation that isn't answered in their FAQ list, such as a problem with an order or something similar. Those things aren't answered by generic replies.

I think many companies try to make it as challenging as possible to ever reach a live person and think they are somehow saving money on 'customer service' that way...............LOL.

I just can not see how it will make money, every business in America uses a PC or a Cell Phone or Word or Adobe. Just can not see why a dental office of a barber shop would need to pay for AI. I can see why it would be great for a company like Amazon, but not seeing wide spread PAID use
