Ahsoka

Back to the discussion:

I finished Andor and I think it was good, not incredible like OT incredible, but good. Visually it was solid, the story did drag in a few spots I thought. I would give it about a 6.5-7 out of 10 overall.

I hope to start Ahsoka later this weekend.

Bout where I ended up.

Did you watch the after credit? Just curious.

Did I miss Morai in any of the episodes? Maybe an appearance in the next one. I've been meaning to go back and watch that arc in Clone Wars. I'm trying not to speculate too much, looking forward to tonight!

I don’t think so but I wouldn’t be surprised if she was in tonight’s episode somewhere either since she was in the Mando episode that introduced Ahsoka.

I’m excited for tonight’s episode as well! I’m trying not to get my hopes up and overthink possible theories too and just go with the flow this time but this next ep has definitely got me hyped after the ending of last week’s.

Ok I finished up Ahsoka episode 2. It was still really good, but not quite as good as episode 1 to me.

Pros:
- Music is still incredibly well done, just incredible!
- fight scene with double lightsabers person and Ahsoka was very well choreographed, loved it!
- Chopper is my new favorite droid, loved the looking for tracker scene and then him getting it done. What a great character!
- Space scenes / battles looked really good, and actually look like Star Wars imho!
- Ray Stevenson continues to impress with his acting chops!
- Sabine is a super interesting character, please don’t screw her up Disney!
- Droid giving Sabine the lightsaber was a great scene……loved the emotional tension in that scene!

Cons:
- lightsaber passthrough wounds to the abdomen now appear to only be a minor inconvenience, that only have you down for about a day…..SMH. Qui-Jon was just weak I guess to go out like a punk like he did.
- The bright colorful skin tones and hair tones continue to look out of place to me, I just prefer a more natural world, organic, lived in look.
- Is every single male human character in this show a bad guy? Once again this slightly comes across as a narrative, as the statistical probability of this occurring in real life is minuscule. All the heroic most skilled warriors are female, and all the people scheming with evil potential are male? Maybe they will even it out as the show progresses.

I continue to think this show is great, and I look forward to episode 3 (hopefully tonight). I stand by that this is the best Star Wars content since Mando 1-2.

Chopper is indeed best droid ever! Check out Star Wars Rebels to see more of him.

The thing with the lightsaber wound is overblown. Sabine got hit off to the side, not directly and she had assistance to get her to a bacta infusion immediately. Mando had a massive head wound that was cured in a sewer with jsut a spray. The medical technology can do wonders IF you can get to it in time. Qui-Gon was stuck where he was and Obi Wan had to wait to get in ther eand finish off Maul before he could administer any aid.

There are males that are not bad guys. Ryder Azadi (Clancy Brown) for one. There were some X-Wing pilots that were male. Jacen Syndulla is a male. Chopper is considered male, as is Huyang. We will definitely see Ezra soon. Why is this an issue?

I wouldn’t say it’s an issue, I would say it looks a tad unnatural and gives people ammo who love to nitpick KKs the force is female initiative.

Give me an elite fighting force anywhere in the world in any arena that is predominantly comprised of female warriors? If you lined up the best hand to hand combat warriors worldwide regardless of gender, would the majority of that group be male or female? If you lined up the majority of the elite military leaders on the planet right now, would they be mostly male or female? If you lined up the best swordfighting specialists (or any weapons specialists) on the planet right now, would they be predominantly male or female?

So, yes I see all the girl bosses and elite female warriors to be a tad odd and unnatural looking. In the exact say way I saw the power rangers to be unnatural looking in BoB.

Chopper is my favorite new Star Wars live action character, and it’s not even close!

Love, love, love this character!

Not an issue, I just keep bringing it up....

Oh man, the misogyny is ripe, so in this fantasy world you cannot suspend disbelief to even consider that females might be on equal footing... Not able to be an elite military leader? And why not, Are females not as smart in your world? Can they not strategize or push a button or fly a plane to drop a bomb as good as a man? .... And you have daughters? Oh I feel for them with this kind of attitude.

"Sorry honey, you will never be as good as a man.... but look pretty now"

Realistically you might be right, but what about fantasy stuff is realisti?. Stories are rife with entire races of female warriors like the Amazons. Here though we are talking about THREE people. Three. Who are all established characters and appropriate for the story at hand.

Use of the term "girl boss" is telling - and yet, you are enjoying the series regardles, so why does it matter?

Just like clockwork you with the name calling! I can always count on you Super Mag!

Once again you know nothing about me. My daughter is wicked smart and is about two years away from an elite engineering degree in a male dominated field. Why is she choosing that major? Because women have a huge advantage in getting a job due to so few women in engineering, and she is really good with math and science. She is very smart, and was a great athlete. She is a heck of a shot with a bow, and a gun also. She has taken deer to feed our family with me there mentoring her. She also knows how to defend herself, I have made sure of that. However, if I put her in a mma fight with a 130 lb male, I would fear for her life. That is not a nock on women, it’s simple biological fact. It I handed her a staff and said fight a man her same weight with a staff, I would fear for her life.

True this is fantasy world, so some breaks from the norms are expected. However, it still looks unnatural to me.

I understand where you’re coming from but when you look at it in the context of the history of these characters from the previous animated shows and then now in this show, Ahsoka fought in The Clone Wars and was the Padawan of the greatest Jedi Knight who ever lived and spent years being trained under his tutelage to become the warrior that she is now. Hera is a celebrated war General who fought all throughout the Galactic Civil War and was a key member of the Rebellion and also learned a lot from her father’s war efforts during The Clone Wars. She was also there during The Battle of Scarif and The Battle of Endor. Sabine is a Mandalorian and we all know how tough and well trained they are even from birth and she was also previously being trained in lightsaber combat by Kanan when she briefly owned The Darksaber before giving it up to Bo-Katan. Sabine was also a cadet at the Imperial Academy of Mandalore before deserting so she will have also had some kind of training there as well. Shin is obviously being trained and taught by Baylan, Morgan is associated with the Nightsisters in some way and we saw how Mon handled herself politically for the Rebellion in Andor so there’s logical reasons why these particular characters are all as skilled and intelligent as they are in the show.

Thanks for the insight, but understand the average fan will not watch all the cartoons to get that context.

Super fans like you will, but not the normies.

I did not call you a name, I called out your actions/post for what it was. Misogyny
It is not “Misogyny” to say the bulk of the world military leaders are male, it is verifiable fact. The males of every race the world have ever known have been called onto to wage wars, and lead wars. Most men are interested and intrigued by military battles, most women are more nurturing and don’t like war. This is not a knock on the female gender, it’s 1000s of years of human evolutionary trends and how we have survived as a race.

If I put you in an octagon with a male mma fighter your exact weight, who is the odds on favorite to win the fight? Is that misogyny?

And that’s where the problem lies. I completely understand and acknowledge most casual fans aren’t interested in watching the animated shows because they think they’re aimed more at kids (when it actuality there’s some pretty dark stuff that’s clearly aimed more towards adults in both of those shows) or they simply don’t have the time to catch up on x amount of shows with multiple seasons but this show is a continuation of those storylines and that’s where some of the confusion about certain characters and plot points etc is coming from.

This show was originally meant to be an animated sequel to Rebels and was announced as much at Star Wars Celebration a few years back until it suddenly changed direction and became a live action show instead. But I get it. Ahsoka and the Ghost Crew are Dave’s babies and he obviously wanted to see them come to life in a different medium and see where he could take their stories from there.

If you cannot see how blanket statements like all women are this... all women are that... men are more this... women are more that... as not misogynistic, then I cannot help you.

There are many things that go into who might win a match. Weight is not the only aspect. Training, fitness, speed, reflexes, strategy, cunning, ruthlessness. None of which are male only traits.

See by saying my exact size and weight... you eliminate any physical size advantage, and then have resorted to a male is naturally superior in a fight even if it was the same physicals size? So yes, it is still not cool what you are saying.

I am saying this, not because I want to be nasty, but as I hope you really want to see how what you are saying can be perceived. I m saying this as a mother to a father who has a daughter for whom you want the best.

MMA fights are organized in weight classes, you are reaching. You are also ignoring biological fact, as a “college level professor”. Is there a woman here or there that is an elite fighter that can compete with a man in a fight, sure. However, it is disingenuous and frankly dangerous to tell young females they can engage in hand to hand combat with a male. Musculoskeletal structures are night and day different and I would think you as an AP instructor would know that. Once again biological facts don’t care about how you feel about a topic.

I don’t want my wife or daughter ever to be forced to trade punches with a male. Not because of misogyny, but because I love them dearly and they are precious to me.

Men and women are 100% equal, but drastically different creatures. To deny that is foolish.

These are fictional aliens, who says they have the same body composition?
