Ahoy! Sailing the Wonder 2/8/09

I faxed my voucher over to my TA this morning and she called DCL and from my understanding, we can go ahead and reserve our rooms for the bounceback offer. I can look back through my emails if anybody needs the exact wording from her for your own TA. DH and I will look at dates TONIGHT and get this booked in the morning. No way we'll wait until April!!!!:cool1:

We are going to go back for the 3 day in October or November. There is just no substitute for leaving the cold and going where it is warm. Going from warm to hot weather does absolutely nothing for me.Guess I have lived in Chicago too long!:lmao: I actually lived in Florida for a couple of years and it is miserable in the summer.:sad2:

Oh wow Krista we can go ahead and book?

I guess I better get on finding someone to watch my kids while we go. Too bad my dad is in Aruba this week. Darn him emailing me saying how warm it was there. LOL

Now I wonder if we can take the kids bouncebacks and use them to upgrade to a 4 or 5 day? Dreaming right?

woo hoo!:woohoo: thanx Krista! I'm calling my TA first thing tomorrow morning (darn work for getting in the way of my travel plans - AGAIN) We are thinking somewhere in the first part of November at this point. We definitely want to go after dry dock to see how pretty the Wonder looks after her makeover. Anyone else want to come with?
Castaway Cay here we come!:cool1:

Annette has a good point. I would rather leave from a cool/cold climate and go to a Tropical warm one and it would nice to see Wonder after her makeover... :thumbsup2

Do you have to go through a travel agent? I have never used one before. Can I call disney directly? Is there any extra for using a TA? Do I have to book my airfair through them too?

I agree with everyone about leaving the cold. Most of my friends/family go away in April. I'm like "huh?". :confused3 We wait all winter for the snow to melt and warm weather to come. When it finally does, why would you go away? So normally I would agree with all of you, but we go away EVERY february to get away from the cold. Its like a holiday to us imprinted in a calendar. The bounceback to me is just a small added treat. If it were my only vacation, I would definitely wait. I also can't wait for that really HOT weather. I need a reason to get in the water. It was too cold for me this past cruise. The DH and kids went in and had a ball, but I need it like a whirlpool tub.:rotfl: Do they have air condition in the rooms?

We might even attempt to drive. You were all so brave. I have a little farther to go than most of you, but I have been inspired! :yay: Plus DH keeps saying he wants to. I think he is crazy!!! But what a better way to find out.

Sorry one more question: When is drydock?

Suppose to hit 50 degrees tomorrow!!!:sunny:

Dry Dock is Sept 28-Oct 21 or so, first 3 day sail after is Oct 22.

The TA we use does not recoeve any extra payment from me. The is EXCELLENT and we use her for all things Disney - every experience has been wonderful. She goes above and beyond the call to see that everything is taken care of and that we have a great time.:thumbsup2 I'd be happy to pass on her name and email to anyone who PM's me.

Also, I'm still new to this DisBoards thing and i'd love to read the trip reports of those of you who posted. Can you post a link to your report or point me in the right direction.

Dry dock is Sept. 27-Oct. 15th.
It's 50 degrees here at 9:30pm and raining like mad in Chicago. I don't know if it is headed your way (hopefully not the rain but maybe the temps!) It was 60 and sunny yesterday. It is going to be 30 degrees here tomorrow! Crazy weather.

Below is Brett's trip report. I have been following that. He has done a great job. I don't know if anyone else has added one.

Thanks for the info on DryDock. That would have been great, but I definitely can't wait that long. Still heading towards Labor Day. Guess we will have to be one of the last few families to leave our mark on the ship before they clean her up.

We are considering Labor Day. The dry dock falls on our fall break. Which would have worked out perfectly.

We're looking at doing the 3 day on Nov. 12th. We have no school on the 11th for Veterans day so it would be perfect for us to fly out on the 11th, stay at the Radisson, cruise on the 12th and fly home Sunday the 15th. The three day sounds like such a teaser now though!! :sad2: DW booked us on a 7 day for 2010 and we are looking at the Trans-Atlantic cruises. Prices are really good for 14 days but 6 or 7 days at sea seem like an awful lot. :confused3

Mike

We are also booking the November 12th 3 day! Anyone else want to come along?:yay:

Today we are thinking that the 3 day bounceback would end up costing us about $1200 - $1500 minimum. That isn't sounding too good compared to saving the money for a cruise in 2010 or even on one of the new ships. We would like to do something other than Bahamas. Besides, we have never taken our kids to WDW. Maybe we should do that.... Still thinking and still coughing!!! UGH

well we had the IVF procedure done last Friday. So we will see in two weeks.

I'm glad some of you where able to rebook already. Not sure what we are goign to do yet, we have some others things to confirm up still.

Tracey I hear you, if you have never been to WDW, I would look into that, you guys would love it. I know aug/Sept are usually free dining times. But one of our favorite times to go is right after Thanksgiving. That week is usually pretty slow until the first weekend of Dec when they tape the xmas parade. Then the 2nd week is pop warner week. So its great seeing the park all decorated for the holidays. Its truely special. Its usually a pretty cheap rate wise. I know pop century is uaually around 120 a night. Just my 2 cents

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Booked via DCL because I couldn't get a hold of Krista's TA and my understanding from another TA was they won't give any onboard credit for the bounceback anyway so you might as well book it direct.
We're on for Nov 12, same room type. Something to look forward to. :woohoo: Now just waiting for JetBlue to allow booking for that period so I can use our points there!
Laura

We are in the process of booking the Nov.12th date as well:banana:
While we will certainly miss you ,Tracey,I totally understand. Everyone should experience the World. It is awesome and your kids will have a blast. :yay:
