I have reservations for a hotel next month in Ohio for a big horse show we are going to. I reserved 2 rooms for a week stay for $2041.00 I need to cancel 1 room and they wont let me! The cancellation policy states that "If you change or cancell this reservation any time you will be charged a 25.00 USD fee for each room. No refunds for unused nights, including those resulting from late check in or early check out, will be given. They won't let me cancell they are saying that their policy states that you must modify or cancell reservations 45 day's prior to check in. No where on my print out does it say anything about 45 days prior. What can I do? I actually made the reservation through hotelplanner.com

Call the manager and fax them a copy of your reservation that does NOT state the 45 days notice thingie.

If you paid by credit card you should have recourse with them. Call your CC to find out for sure but you should be able to protest the charge. If they find in your favor (i'm sure they'll ask for a copy of your print out) they'll refund you the appropriate amount to your account then they'll go after the hotel for re-payment.

If you made it through hotelplanner.com then I would contact them directly and have them deal with it.

Are you going to AQHA Congress? They have such a wonderful trade show! :lovestruc If you're showing, good luck!

I agree with the others, if there's nothing on the print-out, your credit card should be able to handle it. Go ahead and call them to tell them what's going on and ask how they want you to proceed. Good luck!

I have talked to hotelplanner.com and the hotel directly. Hotel planner is saying there is nothing they can do that it's the hotels policy and the hotel is saying that I have to cancell the reservation through hotel planner!! I'm pulling my hair out!! I already have bald spots!!!

Horse show mom we are going to Congress woo hoo:woohoo: I love the trade show too. We are showing we are only taking two this year my stud and my sons gelding. We are very excited:dance3:

Have a great trip! :cool1:

I envy you, since DD has been in pharmacy school, she doesn't have the time to work her horses or to show. She can't wait to get out and get back to it though! I keep threatening to start myself since I'm almost old enough for the Select classes! :rotfl2: When you get back, let us know how it went!

About the reservation, as long as you've got your documentation, I really think you'll be fine if you ask your cc people how to proceed. I did that with a new laptop I got through ebay. It was supposed to come with a 3 year complete care warranty, and they weren't able to get it transferred to my name. I called the cc customer service, and they told me what to do to make sure I had myself covered before I ever went as far as filing a dispute. I got every penny back too.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info I will be calling my CC Company.

Is this a small, locally owned hotel? What does it say on their website? Regardless, if your documentation doesn't state 45 days, then that was the policy you both agreed to and they should stand by it.

I have never heard of a 45 day cancellation window! Most times you have until the day of at 6pm to cancel (I stay mostly at Hilton, Marriott, etc for work). I don't even plan trips that far in advance.

If it is a chain, I would call the corporate office. If not, then my CC company.

Good luck!
