Granny,
I am personally shocked that you could drive that far and not end up tucked peacefully into the trees where you belong. It's a good thing I can still type because I sit here speechless. You traded the whoosh, pshhhhh, and fomp of Fire Rock for some orange haired clown? Lucy, ya got some splainin' to do.
-Geyser.

Well, I must admit that we did miss our wilderness retreat. But we certainly enjoyed the easy walk to two parks, variety of restaurants and Community Hall at BWV.

Still, there was one night when I was thinking how nice it would be to be sitting on the WL beach at dusk, adult beverage in hand, waiting for the EWP to float by. Oh....but I digress..... :)

Don't worry....we can't go three years between VWL stays! We'll be back next year for sure, and the world will start spinning on it axis properly again! :p

Good to hear from you. Great report. Looking forward to my 8 night trip in a couple of months. Does this mean you didn't do the Universal trip or did you make it there for a weekend? (I know eveyone! It's bad enough that Granny didn't stay at the VWL but the fact that I also mentioned Universal in the post is close to blasphemy, sorry all)

HBC

HBC....we did visit Universal a few times for the first time but stayed at BWV the entire time. Universal is a nightmare unless you are staying on site there and get FOTL passes, or buy their version of the FastPass! By 9:30 every morning, all their FP's were for 5:00 in the evening or later!

We just hate moving during a stay, so we'll have to see about how to tackle this for next year!

Shhhh....we'll just keep this part of the trip between the two of us, since it's not a DVC topic!!

Great to hear you enjoyed the BWV. Fantastic report!

We always go for at least 10-14 days. I don't find it long at all,you can really pace yourself and enjoy your resort more.

Although all the DVC are awesome, BWV is my favorite (maybe because it was the first one we ever stayed at), DH & DD Love OKW(it holds the 2nd spot in my heart.)

I have yet to stya at our home in VWL, it's nice to know it has such a huge following!

Great report, Granny.

We're definitely Wilderness Lodge lovers here at our house. But we just went and did a small add-on at BWV because of those standard view points and overall feel of the Boardwalk. We love the pretty landscaping - can still smell those white roses when I close my eyes!

Great report Granny!

We returned a week ago from our first BWV stay as well! We checked in on the 17th and were also on the 5th floor (but almost all the way down the hall with a GREAT Boardwalk view!). The walk really WASN'T that bad! :) And the room was PERFECT! ::yes::

That rain the first few days was a bit depressing, but it also kept it much cooler than usual, and we just donned our ponchos and hit the parks anyway. When the sun and heat hit later in the week, I sometimes even MISSED those cool, rainy days! :teeth:

We too will be returning to VWL and BCV next year, but we very much enjoyed our BWV stay, and will definitely do it again!

Sorry we didn't set up a meet - It would have been great to meet you in person!

Tagrel....darn, it would have been nice to hook up with you! Maybe we shared an elevator ride and didn't even know it.

We struck up several conversations during the two weeks with people at the resort, but never found anyone who had heard of or who posted on the DIS boards.

Like the Cubs fans say, maybe next year! :p

Great report Granny! I'm jealous...2 weeks sounds heavenly.

But your post helped me live it vicariously through you so that made it easier to swallow! :)

If I'm not mistaking, I think this was your first time at the Prime Time Diner. Did you have to eat your beans with help from a train or a plane? Hehehehe!

Anyway, glad you're back. Glad you had fun. And just think, in another few weeks you'll be making ressies for next year! ...Gotta love our DVC!

Laura

Laura....we had done Prime Time once before and it is my daughter's favorite restaurant. Probably because Dad (me) always gets yelled at by the waitress!

It was the table next to us that got the "airplane" treatment...but we all had to help make the airplane noise! :p

And yes, in the next couple of weeks we need to book the 2005 vacation! Gotta love it! :p

Thanks for posting your report Granny!! As a new DVC owner, it lets me plan for our future trips by reading others thoughts and comments!!

Well done!

Well, what a treat! Our first trip as owners at BWV was in June, and we found everything just as ship-shape.

Y'know, you're really ticking some folks off by being so positive. Pity. :teeth:

NOW -we're headed to VWL for Thanksgiving. Jealous?

Great report, Granny. Gald to hear that your family's stay was so wonderful.:wave2:

The BWV are where my heart is and I love to read great reviews like yours. A little touch of the BWV and WDW after a hard day at work is wonderful. Thanks!

TOOO FUNNY! :teeth: I laughed out loud as I read this post!

Granny, thanx for the outstanding trip report! I am happy to read that your trip was an excellent one...

Great report Granny. I was glad to see that the buses didn't give you guys too much trouble. I've been a little anxious about that, but hey...we'll be in WDW, so no worrying. We are looking forward to trying out VWL over THanksgiving also. I have a feeling I'm gonna love it there!!

Granny Thanks for the report! That is awesome you had such a great stay! You are totally making me want to check out the BWV next trip :)

Granny - Welcome back; I think. :) If you're like me, you wish you were back on the Boardwalk!!

Great report! We were at the Boardwalk 7/17 - 7/25 but on the 3rd floor; had the famous Room 3123. That's the room on the corner of the building with the very large living room and a balcony that stretches the entire legnth of the unit.

We had some problems with the hot water earlier on in the week. About 3 mornings out of 9 we had lukewarm water. It didn't really bother us; as long as it wasn't dead cold!! So maybe that's when the boiler was on it's way out.

I have to agree with you also on the bus situation. We had absolutely no problems with transportation at all this time.

Jessica was our Front Desk CM and like your Linda she was delightful. Nice little touch with the phone calls don't you think?

We also headed to Universal. We always get there for first opening. A few years ago, prior to 9/11, they actually had "EE Days" for onsite guests and....people with multi day tickets. We would always get there for EE and hit all the "hot" rides. Now, unfortunately, unless you stay there (and we don't) or purchase that package of FOTL passes, you have to hussle. We get there when they first open and try to get on everything we can. By 11:30 if you stand where US and IOA meet and look up towards the Movies, it looks like a swarm of ants heading into the park. Masses of people coming in and wait times now in excess of 1.5 hours. But we do like US/IOA!!

Thanks for sharing that great trip with us!! When are you going back????
