Okay so I have our trip for August 16-25th booked at the WL in a Woods View Bunk Bed Room. My husband was casually looking at some of the other Deluxe Resorts tonight and he just told me he really wants me to switch our resort over to Animal Kingdom Lodge. My younger DS is 2 1/2 and obsessed with animals, so I know he'll be in heaven, but I'm a tad concerned about AKL's distance from MK, which is where we will spend 3 full days on our trip. Can anyone reassure me that we'll still be fine?! Also is it worth it to do the Savanna View room, or Pool View, or should I stick with Standard? I did a ton of research on WL and read a bunch of reviews and mainly decided on that one due to its location, any help or tips would be great for AKL, thanks!

You'll be just fine, and it sounds like your family will love the resort. It is one of my favourites, and I hope you will be able to dine at some of their restaurants while you are there, as well.

The buses run regularly to MK all day. I would think it takes at maximum 20 minutes. It would probably take you 15min. by boat to get to MK from WL, so it's not such a big deal.

As far as room levels go- standard rooms are nice. Savannah rooms are definitely worth the price of the upgrade for us. We loved stepping out onto the balconey to watch the animals. I wouldn't pay anything extra just for a pool view, though. JMO.

IMO the bus service to and from AKL is excellent. I am sure that you and your family will love the resort. SV is great but if too pricy for this trip, go with Standard view and watch the animals for one of the many obsevation decks and picture windows.

AKL is a great resort so I know you will enjoy it but I would not sacrifice the ability to be back in your room in 5-10 mins for it. If you are spending a lot of time in MK(especially in the Aug heat)I would want the ability to easily return to your room for a break. While this is possible with the buses it would take significantly more time.

We would stick with WL and sake AKL for another visit when the kids are older or do a split stay and focus our MK time while we were at WL. You can always visit AKL, do meals etc. and view the animals.

We've stayed at Kidani twice; VWL once. One trip our DGS was the same age as your son. We had a savanna view, and he loved it! It's worth it. He would sit outside on the balcony with his snacks and visit with the animals, and he could do it in his diaper! We had excellent bus service both times we stayed, and, remember, those busses are air conditioned - your trip will be climate controlled. Plus, there are only two bus stops at AKL. I feel the pools at AKL have more features geared toward younger children - zero entry and play areas. WL does not have those. WL is lovely, but I feel AKL would be more fun for your son.

I agree with the others that the buses aren't bad at all from AKL. We've stayed at both and while we love taking the boat back and forth to MK from WL, the buses are fine going from AKL. There's no sharing with any other resorts as the buses only service Kidani and AKL. It sounds like your family would love AKL with the animals. We've stayed in a pool view and savannah view and the savannah view was great. But with that said, we loved the pool view just as much. Good luck deciding, although I'm sure you'll have a great trip no matter which resort you choose :wizard:.

For us it's always location, location...location...we psend more time in the MK than anyother park....we have done AKL, and didn't care for it's location and lack of animals on the Savannah and we had a Savannah room...

WL, built alone the same lines as AKL has the best convenience for the MK in it's boat transportation...it's fast and the resort only has 750 rooms maling it a small compact resort....easy to catch the boat to the MK or CR to use the monorail system....for ease of MK going and afternoon breaks, WL wins for us...
