AGLET – We're Gonna Tour The World Together! Updated 11/9!!!

Your meal looks amazing! I love the desserts... I too would attempt to eat them all... even if it did put me into a sugar coma :rotfl2:

Okay, since I was ridiculously, insanely behind, I am happy to report that I am now caught up. Now to my random thoughts ...

I may be the only one, but I don't actually mind getting stuck inside IASW. Maybe because my little girl loves it and I already hear the song on repeat on a daily basis. Maybe because it is air conditioned and I can cool off a bit. Maybe because I have already been stuck inside it a few times?:confused3

Fantastic shot on the TTA. :thumbsup2 sums it up perfectly with the feet up.

Glad you finally got to see that the cowboy scene exists. :thumbsup2

Bummer about the red velvet cupcake not living up to your expectations. I hate when that happens. I actually just got a red velvet cupcake after dinner the other night and was so bummed when it didn't taste as good. I do remember that I thoroughly enjoyed a white chocolate cupcake concoction from starring rolls in the past. I fully intend to try another cupcake next time I go.

Citricos is looks so good, especially that dessert buffet you had going on.

Oh, and seriously, that is totally a hidden Mickey that you saw.

Love Love Love Citrico's!! :lovestruc

We went twice in 2009!! Only have one visit planned for October but that's just because there are so many other places we want to go!!

I am SOOO the person that doesn't let someone take my plate till I'm done! We have a fondue place here and the cheese course is my favorite. I am usually the only one left eating it but I won't let them take it till the cheese that is left is just hard on the bowl! Hubbby teases me that whenever I have a plate of food and there is something that is my favorite on it I will leave that for last and no one better touch my plate till I am done!:rotfl2:

Wow your dinner looked great! The desserts looked good, too. I really would love one of those Chocolate Slippers too. I'll have to hint to DH next trip...

Everything there really was great! We were very happy with our dinner there!

The slipper is a nice treat, surprise or not . I think they're around $15, and need to be ordered at least 48 hours in advance.

Did your business casual attire consist of gray converse sneakers? Minnie ears? A jaunty hat for Wingnut? If so, then I'd wager they would've thrown you out of V&A's! Kidding, kidding.

:rotfl: No, none of the above!! (Not even the Converse, I promise!)

Man, that butter sounds divine with the citrus zest! What a great idea. I might have to try that. I love sea salt as well so this sounds amazing!

Ohhh it was brilliance in a butter pat, I swear! I love the butter with the sea salt, the zest just made it even better!

Ok, Wingnut's bread dish reminds me of my grandfather's ashtray! It was the same amber colored glass. But I'm sure it had a much snootier air about it at Citricos!

 I'm not sure "ashtray" was exactly the look Citricos was going for...

I like your confidence! Me personally, I hate all seafood much to my family's disgrace. I'm the odd ball who orders chicken when we all go out for seafood.

I'm usually exactly the same. But the different accompaniments WITH the crab convinced me! (I'm a sucker for a good avocado!)

Yum! That looks delicious. I don't care for veal either.

It was a great filet! :thumbsup2

 Yes, I'd have been having the same imaginary conversation with myself! My mom had this happen to her when we went to breakfast once. She had maybe a centimeter of bacon left and the waitress tried to whisk it away. My mom told her she wasn't done and took the plate back forcibly while I contemplated crawling under the table out of embarrassment! I even made her a ceramic plate with the words "leave the bacon" one year for a Christmas gift! We still laugh about it.

:lmao: That's too funny! Hey, sometimes you really really want that last bite of bacon or potato! I love that you made her a plate to commemorate that moment too!

Oh my, that looks amazing! Though I would've passed on the banana flavor though. I'm not big on banana but the rest looks good!

The torte was HEAVY on the banana flavor, it was all within the torte, not just the little banana garnish. I loved it, but if you're not a banana fan, then it may not be the dessert for you!

Why didn't you?:confused3 ;)

I was sooo tempted, had we not literally been right in the middle of the restaurant, front and center!

I love gelato and Wingnut's looks delish! That chocolate one on the end reminds of chili though.

It does look like chili!! :rotfl: He loves gelato, those little tastings desserts are his favorite.

Hooray, the super secret slipper appeared! Were you surprised? Next time you should just order it yourself and tell Wingnut that he just bought you a slipper dessert at such and such restaurant.:thumbsup2

I was soooooo surprised!!! ;)

I swear, I should. I did offer to get it this time, but he insisted!

Sara, you're too tiny put all that food away! But it looks so good and I'm happy to hear you put a serious dent in it.

It sounds like Citricos was a hit! And your review was excellent as always.:thumbsup2 Were you able to roll yourselves back to the Poly??

Hahaha we really did clean a good majority of our plates! :thumbsup2

It really was, I would definitely recommend it! Thank you!! Hahaha we managed to!

We can't have commoners at 'Ohana across the lake using the Citricos napkins. It's just unheard of.

Aw, your last bit of potatoes. I completely understand how you felt though, you don't want to be THAT person. "GIVE ME BACK MY POTATOES FOOL!"

Those little chocolate drawings on the dessert plates always just amaze me. I know they're just stencils but still. The slipper dessert looks awesome! I love the little hearts in the sauce.

Awesome review! You have a talent, I swear.

:lmao: How funny would it be to get a random Citricos restaurant at Ohana. Like...I swear I thought I was at the Polynesian right now...:confused3

I was a bit sad to see that last bite go, but I just couldn't chase them down!! I had been so well-behaved up until that point already!

I agree, I love them!! The castle one is so pretty! Disney really does decorate their plates so well!

Thank you!! :goodvibes

One of the contributors for All Ears did a little write up on the original concept for DHS...There was to be an entire section called Muppet Studios!! http://allears.net/ae/issue647.htm

Thank you for sharing that article!!! That's so interesting!! I SO wish that pizza parlor would have come to fruition!! How awesome would a Muppets restaurant be????

Oooh what a great looking meal at Citricos!
I hate when servers have their hand on your plate and are almost taking it away already before they ask. I totally understand how you felt! I wouldn't want to lunge for potatoes either.
The slipper dessert is so pretty!

It really was a wonderful dinner! Hahaha that happens to me a lot, actually!

It's so cool how people can make chocolate into something so pretty like that, isn't it? I love baking and stuff, but my stuff NEVER comes out THAT nice!! :rotfl:

Oh, wow. That all looks delicious! I'd especially like the crab dish, I think, though I don't like capers (but I love olives...strange one, I know) at all--are they strong in the dish?

I'm glad you got your slipper! I kind of chuckled thinking about you showing up at California Grill, demanding your slipper and them having no clue what you were talking about:rotfl2:! Yay for investigating earlier, even if it did spoil the surprise just a little. Still, a slipper! Even without a surprise it is awesome:thumbsup2.

I'm not a huge sweets person, but I would have been proud to have a table that covered in desserts. I think I would have proudly worn the chocolate crown.

It really was!! I'm not the biggest caper fan either, I don't think that there were too many in there. I definitely don't remember being overwhelmed by them at all (and I usually am good with just like 2 or 3 in a dish!).

Hahaha can you imagine?? How embarrassing would that be?? I'm very glad we investigated beforehand!

:rotfl: See, I LOVE dessert! This was like my ideal table! I really wanted to wear the crown, but there were people around us always!!

Your dinner at Citricos looks amazing! I read your review of the filet and potatoes to my BF and he asked if we could eat there, based on the potatoes alone! Although the chocolate banana torte looks fabulous and it's right up my alley, dessert wise.... I'll have to see if I can fit it in for 2013!

And I TOTALLY get the shoes thing! We were scheduled for dinner at Jiko on our 2010 trip, but were planning to go straight there from AK, and I brought a special tote bag to bring to the park that day that would contain an entire change of clothes for us...including shoes. Of course, my BF got sick that day so we ended up staying at the resort and never made it to the park, much less dinner. So yeah, don't feel bad about the change of shoes

It really was great!! Yay, I'm glad they convinced him to try Citricos! The food there was really good! I'd definitely recommend giving it a try!

I hate uncomfortable shoes, so having a comfortable sneaker option is pretty high on my priority list! Ugh, that stinks that your BF got sick though! You were definitely prepared for a wardrobe change though!

YUM. You are great at dining reviews. I've never really thought about trying Citricos, I guess b/c we love California Grill oh so much, but everything looks and sounds amazing.

My favorite part is when you said you resisted to use the chocolate as a crown b/c that is totally what I thought of when I saw it. :rotfl: You made the right choice though, Citricos does not seem like the type of place that would appreciate their food being worn atop one's head.

Ahh, the slipper. I haven't had one of those since 2006! Better make a note of that for our next trip. SO SO GOOD.

Thank you!! I really don't know how we're going to choose ADR's in the future, we loved so many of the meals we have had!

Hahaha I really did want to! But another motivator against doing it was that it was secured to the plate with melty chocolate, and I knew that there was absolutely no way I'd be able to pull off a crown picture without causing a giant mess! :rotfl:

They really are just as good as they look, aren't they??

What a great meal!

Servers always do 2 things to me, 1) ask how my food is when I have food in my mouth and 2) ask if I'm finished when I'm not, ever. Silly people!

So glad you got your slipper AND two additional desserts!

It really was wonderful!!

Hahaha that always happens to me as well!

We were definitely well-covered on the dessert front!

Great Citricos review! I have never, ever wanted to eat there, but now, after reading about your experience, I want to! :thumbsup2 Everything sounds so good!

Ok. I want one of those glass slipper desserts. I guess I'll have to make Brandon order one for me when we go to CA Grill! Do they always come in white chocolate, or can you get them in milk or dark chocolate? I'll have to do some investigating! :rotfl:

Thanks!! I'll admit, I had been wondering if we would like it there, but we really really did! Everything was wonderful!

At the Grand Floridian and California Grill, yes, they only come in white chocolate (Wingnut did ask this specific question when ordering it!). I have seen pictures of them in dark chocolate though, but my guess is those are older or from CRT.

Well, reading your review of Citrico's is making me want to write mine! :lmao: Because it would be fairly similar. Mark had the same appetizer as Wingnut and I had the swordfish, too. And I was a very, very happy girl. :goodvibes

Too bad about the mistake with the slipper, but they got that beauty all straightened out in the end.

Hahaha I'm glad you guys had a similar experience!! Were you as amazed by the triangular pasta as Wingnut was?

Yes, all's well that ends well! :thumbsup2

I loved your review. I wish I could write a review like that, but as much as I love food, I just can't deliver like you can. Maybe I need more practice. Anyhoodle .... I loved it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!! :goodvibes I just enjoy talking about food and get on a roll and hope people don't get bored hahaha!

Well now. Citricos is definitely going to be on my list. And your dish looks exactly like what I would order, for sure.

I'm very glad that you got the slipper figured out! Their track record doesn't seem too good though if they forgot your parents slipper too!

Oh, and you totally should have worn the chocolate crown on your head.....and documented it.

Hahaha I'm glad you're going to give it a try! It was really good!

I know, it was strange that it happened twice. If I were to make a special order there again, I would just make a point to remind the front desk, our server, everyone!

Hahaha I wish I could have! But we were SO in the middle of everyone!

It all looked delcious!

It really was!!! :thumbsup2

We enjoyed Citricos on our last trip. The warm banana torte was the only dessert that we both ordered (usually we tried to each order something different). Good thing, too, because it was so tasty that I doubt either one of us would've shared  The slipper looks almost too beautiful to eat! For us, Citricos was a much better experience than Cali Grill, but there were other restaurants that trumped both of those.

Can't wait to hear about Bistro de Paris and Artist Point!

I'm glad to hear you guys enjoyed Citricos as well! Mmm that banana torte was super-good! Unfortunately, that was one of the dessert casualties that didn't quite get finished!

The slipper is almost too pretty to eat! :rotfl: (But trust me, you want to! It tastes just as good as it looks!)

All I can say in YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm so glad I saw this update before I left for work. It would not be the same without the pictures!

So now I am torn. I definitely want to eat there in June but I'm not sure where I will fit it in. I don't have that manner ADRs because of my brother's family. But perhaps I will need to sneak away from them for an evening. :rotfl2:

Hmm...where else are you guys planning on going for dinners? It would be fun if you were able to fit it in!

Thank you for the wonderfully detailed Citricos review...I've said it before, but you really could write food reviews for a living!

I must remember to try the potatoes...they sound quite spectacular!

You had a little piece of dessert heaven there! I love the chocolate crown sculpture and completely understand the impulse to wear it. The slipper dessert looks wonderful, as usual.

Thank you!!! :goodvibes Hahaha the potatoes are a must-have!! :thumbsup2

We had an entire table of dessert heaven!! Everything was so good!

Your meal looks amazing! I love the desserts... I too would attempt to eat them all... even if it did put me into a sugar coma :rotfl2:

Hahaha sometimes a sugar coma is entirely worth it!! Believe me, we did our best tackling them all!

Fantastic shot on the TTA. :thumbsup2 sums it up perfectly with the feet up.

Oh, and seriously, that is totally a hidden Mickey that you saw.

I don't mind being stuck on IASW too much, I always feel like there are much worse rides to get stuck on!

I always wonder how dirty the backwards-facing seats on the TTA must be, with all of us putting our feet up on it!! :rotfl:

I was SO excited to see that elusive cowboy scene!! It really did exist! :thumbsup2

Red velvet cake seems to either be a hit or miss, depending on where you go! Some bakers just get a little too exuberant with the red food coloring, it seems! I'd love to give Starring Rolls another chance, maybe another of their other wonderful-looking treats!

Citricos really was great! We loved it there!

Hahaha I thought so too!

Love Love Love Citrico's!! :lovestruc

We loved it too!!! It's so hard to decide where you want to go, isn't it? Everything always sounds soo good!

Hahaha that's the danger of saving the best for last on your plate! Fondue is fun, the cheese is always great, but I personally enjoy the dessert course the best! (Surprise, surprise...:rolleyes1)

Thank you for sharing that article!!! That's so interesting!! I SO wish that pizza parlor would have come to fruition!! How awesome would a Muppets restaurant be????

I know!! I like Mama Melrose's and Pizza Planet, but they just seem so weird and out of place over there... It's almost like you can tell they had other plans for that section and then changed their minds last minute or something?

Especially considering Toy Story Midway Mania is on the OPPOSITE side of the park from Pizza Planet.....:confused3 It's like they just stuck a bunch of random stuff in! And YEARS ago I told my BF that I just didn't "get" that section of the park...It doesn't flow right, you know what I mean? Like, you see the MuppetVision building, then Pizza Planet...then Mama Melrose's...then NYC with a snowman and a Christmas store..... It's just bizarre to me...

Great review :thumbsup2

All the food and desserts looked so good...I so would have been tempted to put the chocolate "crown" on too :goodvibes

That was an awesome review! All the food looks and sounds amazing. I'm having some food envy, my dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets aren't quite cutting it for me!

DHS is very haphazard in its layout...I always wondered if they did that on purpose, like the randomness of a movie set, or it probably is because of unfinished Muppets (and maybe others as well) areas! I think this is also why I ALWAYS get lost at some point in DHS, there's no logic to where you end up next!

Great review :thumbsup2

Thanks!! Hahaha I really wanted to, but figured I probably shouldn't...

That was an awesome review! All the food looks and sounds amazing. I'm having some food envy, my dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets aren't quite cutting it for me!

Thanks!! Hahaha Wingnut would be jealous of your dino nuggets, those are one of his favorites! :

At the Grand Floridian and California Grill, yes, they only come in white chocolate (Wingnut did ask this specific question when ordering it!). I have seen pictures of them in dark chocolate though, but my guess is those are older or from CRT.

Thanks! I found a page on the Disney Food Blog all about ordering the glass slipper, and I printed it out, with the date and time of our Cali Grill ADR on it, and left it on Brandon's dresser a few days ago. :rolleyes1 I asked him if he looked at it yet and he said no! I might just have to order it myself. I really, really want one! I love white chocolate, so that's not a problem, I just kind of wish they could do a white chocolate slipper with milk chocolate mousse, but like I said, it's not really a problem! :yay:

Hello there! I'm very late to this party, I know, but I stumbled across your TR via Lea's, and decided to describe...and maybe read a couple updates.

Well, that was over an hour ago. I just read this whole thing! You are a fabulous TR writer, and I absolutely can't wait for more adventures and food reviews! This report is awesome!

P.S. I hope you find a Muppet hat!

Very nice and subtle!! :thumbsup2 Awww I see no problem in just ordering it yourself! They really are a fun little extra treat. You can definitely ask about the milk chocolate mousse, but it seems to be a pretty standard plate layout.

Hahaha thank you!! :goodvibes

Fully full, we rolled out of the Grand Floridian and decided what we wanted to do next. DHS was having EMH's that night, but since we had already stopped by there that afternoon, neither of us were demanding to return that evening.

I mentioned to Wingnut that I REALLY wanted to see Wishes on this trip, and it seemed to be that we would have a pretty good vantage spot just steps away from our room in Tokelau. It was around 7 at this point, and Wishes started at 8 (Winter schedule, remember!), so we monorailed back to the Polynesian, stopped off at the Captain for some more bottled water, and returned to Tokelau.

The evening chill had set in again, and so I decided to put on my sweatshirt, and put my room key and phone in the front pocket, no reason to carry a bag all the way to the sidewalk 20 steps to the left.

(Unfortunately, the above paragraph is an important detail that will resurface in a future update...not just me getting into excessive detail again...)

Wingnut and I walked along the path towards the lake, and I spied the castle in the distance:

Yes, I know that is probably the worst picture of the castle ever. But that makes the rest of my pictures look awesome by comparison. So it's staying!

Another try, this time with my phone.

Well, that's better!

Looking back towards Tokelau:

We hung out on the sidewalk, basically at the base of the hill leading up to Sunset Point. I saw a few groups of people heading up the hill to watch the fireworks, but I figured our view was pretty good where we were, and at that point in the day, even the idea of defying gravity to climb the hill was exhausting.

A bunch of other people hung out in chairs on the beach, but we were wearing sneakers, and so on the sidewalk we stood. Also, I knew the music would be piped in somewhere, and so I attempted to place us close to any sort of pole or structure that could possibly play music.

(With the magic of Disney imagineering in mind, this list could be endless.)

Oh, and I should probably mention now that neither of us had ever seen Wishes before.

(Yes, I know. :scared1:.)

Technically, I had watched it on YouTube several times, but Wingnut had never ever even gotten a hint of the show before.

A few minutes later, the music began to play.

I'll just come out right now and say that my fireworks pictures are TERRIBLE. Seriously. I am so envious of all of you that take amazing gorgeous fireworks shots. Mine are just colorful blurs.

(And why I didn't take more pictures with my phone? I have no idea. It was a bit awkward to hold and take pictures with? Some other lame reason? Who knows.)

Before the "Tinkerbell comes flying out of the castle" music moment, I told Wingnut, "this is the part where Tinkerbell comes flying out of the castle, but we probably won't even be able to see it from here."

Much to my surprise, yes, you could see the teeny tiny green dot that was Tinkerbell from the Polynesian!!!

(Much to no one's surprise, no picture :sad2:)

Despite the less-than-stellar photography skills, I'm sure you guys are humming along to all the points of the show we reach. Here's a slightly more recognizable one...

Can you tell that the castle is glittery? I promise those are not just random sporadic white specks.

So, after all of this time, and so many people being like, "HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE SEEN WISHES ALREADY???" what did we think???

I loved it. I really really really did. It definitely makes all the difference to see Wishes while standing on WDW property. Wingnut really enjoyed it as well. We also REALLY enjoyed being able to watch the show and then turn around and walk around 50 steps and be in our room.

However...

It still does not beat Illuminations in my book! ILLUMINATIONS HAS ZEBRAS IN IT.

(And lots of other awesome stuff too.)

(Actually...want to see how much of an Illuminations super-dork I am???)

Yes, really!

(I seriously cannot figure out how to post a video from Flickr onto here, so a link will have to suffice - unless someone else knows how!)

Anyways, after the show, we turned around and went straight back into Tokelau. We decided to call it a night, and relaxed in the room with a few episodes of Community.

You took the words right out of my mouth.....HOW HAVE YOU NOT SEEN WISHES BEFORE?!

Anywho, now that's out of the way...I'm glad that you enjoyed it. We actually didn't watch it from the Poly, but it's awesome that they pipe in the music and everything.

Phew... I made it and I'm all caught up.

Your Citricos review makes me want to try it again. We went a few years ago, and weren't super impressed, but I think you have convinced me to try it again.

So glad you finally saw Wishes! (I love that you were like it was good...but Illuminations has zebras! Top that Wishes :laughing:)

YAY!!! You saw Wishes!! Of course you loved it...you'd have to be a heartless villain to not love it! Your photos aren't so bad...they're very obviously fireworks! :rotfl:

How convenient to see Wishes from just steps outside your room. I love the view of the castle and the fireworks. Could you really see tink from there?

OK - so what did you lose from your pocket? Please tell me it wasn't your phone?
