Aggravated With People Who Can't Return a Wedding Response Card...

Absolutely amazing stories. Some people are just totally clueless...

My FIL never RSVPed for our wedding - and ended up bringing a date that he met three weeks earlier at DH's graduation. She was our best man's mother, which was interesting!

Also, DH's West Virginia relatives were each sent an invitation - three separate ones, inviting 6 total people. We received ONE card back, with "5" written on it. It wasn't until 3 days before the wedding when they would clarify just who the five were! Turns out, one of the five wasn't even invited in the first place, of course.

I don't dispute the fact that people are rude and thoughtless. BUT this should be a good reality check to the bride.

Many many brides act as if the world revolves around them....I know that at the time, nothing is more important to them than their wedding. But this shows you that many many things are more important to many of their guests. So if the bride is getting nervous about things, let her know that this is not Lady Diana's wedding or the presidential inauguration, and if things go wrong, the world will not end.

Oy vey! I guess I got lucky with our RSVPs. We had one relative who said he was coming from out of town and then a few days before he cancelled. He sent a nice gift and he even sent a money to cover the cost of the meal we had to pay for.

What I want to know is -- when someone replies that they are bringing extra people with them how do you handle it?

There's always a few in the bunch - unfortunately it was my mother and father-in-law. And no, they didn't come to the wedding.

When DD married in New Jersey, several cousins of DSIL responded that they would attend the New Jersey wedding. Well, they didn't show for the Friday nite reception because they were leaving for Disney World on Satursday morning. So, when we arrive at OKW on Sunday morning to prepare for DD's Disney wedding, the first call we get is from this little group wanting to come to the wedding at the Pavillion and the reception at the California Grill. Of course, we tell them they could come to the Pavillion and to the dessert reception in Epcot on Sunday nite, but they could not be accommodated at the CG (At the time, there were still wedding packages for up to 30 guests, and adding them would void the package and make it a custome wedding, and that would have been ridiculous to do at the last minute). They came late to the dessert reception, during Illuminations, and the CM's on the French Island would not let them in, nor would they bother us during the fireworks to check if it was OK to admit them. They showed up and made a lot of noise in the Wedding Pavillion during the service and then they left. BTW, they never sent a card or a gift and then tried to tell DSIL that they had left the gift with the EM at the Pavillion and insinuated that she must have stolen it!!!!!!! Absolutely, incredible!!!!!
