I just saw the childs menu for the garden grill listed on Deb Wills site. It had the ages for the childs price at 3- 9. I was under the impression that it was under 12 that got the childs price. Did this change and I just wasn't aware of it?

It seems that all the restaurants are slowly switching over to 3-9 being the age for kid's dining - maybe to match the new MYW dining plan.

When we went in 1998, we were on a "dining" plan. I think it was something like $50 for adults and $35 for kids. When we booked it, they considered anyone 10 or older an "adult" and charged accordingly. With this plan they charged $50 but gave you $55 worth of food (per night). You spent whatever you wanted and when the money was gone, you had to pay out of pocket. It was a more expensive plan but I think more flexible as my daughter could eat off any menu and we could get alcoholic beverages (as long as the money was in the account).
I think Disney has considered 10 and above an adult as far as food and ticket prices are concerned.

Last year at all of the buffets we went to we paid a child price for our DD who was 10. At that time it was under 12 that paid the childs rate. I was just wondering when the change occured and is it for all the restaurants or just some of them?

We may have to reconsider some of our PS if we have to pay for four adults.

I made priority seatings almost 90 days ago for several restaurants in WDW (Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and others). I'm traveling with two boys ages 11 and 12. I was told by Disney Dining that the 11 year old would receive child's prices, while the 12 year old would be charged as an adult. At any rate, the priority seatings were made for 3 adults and 1 child. I'll probably have an aneurysm if they attempt to charge adult prices for the 11 year old; especially considering that he eats like a bird. Maybe he could just eat what falls off the table....hmm..... :earboy2:

The dining plan you pay an adult price for anyone 10 and up. If they are charging child prices at buffets for 12 and under, we will pay out of pocket for the kids and save their TS credits for another meal.

I just looked at allearsnet.com and they list the "child' buffet price for kids 3-11 at Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Boma and a few others. I think we will pay out of pocket for the twins, who are 10 for those meals!

:rotfl: That is exactly how my youngest DD is as well. It will be hard to pay adult prices for her next year. She is 5ft tall and 90 pounds (TINY). My hands can span her waist and then some. Now when my oldest DD was her age I never felt paying an adult price for her was unreasonable. She ate as much as I did if not more. But our youngest is a peanut and eats as much as a peanut would. ;)
