It may not be the first time the Wachowski brothers may have done that. In the original film the Nebuchadnezzar has a manufacturer's plate that reads "Mark III no. 11." It is believed to be refer to Mark 3:11 in the Bible: "And whenever the unclean spirits beheld him, they fell down before him and cried out, 'You are the Son of God.'"

The film is full of references to Christianity, Greek mythology, other classical subjects, and even Alice In Wonderland. http://www.moviemistakes.com/film808/trivia For example, look at the main character "Thomas Anderson" AKA "Neo". Thomas the was "doubting" disciple in the Bible, "Anderson" means "Son of Man", and "Neo" mean "new".
