On this trip to (Oct 4-8) DL were DW, DD(10), DS(6), and DW's Aunt(85) wheelchair needed . This was a four night stay at DLH. First item of concern; if you are going to DL with a wheelchair bound person, be aware that people will have no respect for that person in the wheelchair(for the most part). Next, be aware that DLH is a VERY OLD hotel. Here are the problems that my DW encountered with the 2 rooms they booked. Rooms were booked over a month in advance and were quoted as being connected. Upon check in rooms were not connecting, they were 4 rooms apart from each other.......DUH!!! DW was told that connecting rooms were sold out, and she would have to wait until the next day. They check into rooms and head for DL. DW brings aunt back to the room early and goes back to park with the kids and returns to DLH at closing of park. Come to find out heat in aunts room is not working. DW calls front desk, engineers sent up, heat fixed after 1 1/2 hours of them working.
Next day they get the connecting rooms, no valet to help them move......nothing!!! Calls front desk asks for assistance, waits 1/2 hour, nothing. Calls again, waits another 1/2 hour. nothing again. So DW has to haul luggage for everyone to new rooms.......What's up with that?
All go to park until closing @ 8:00, then return to DLH. Kids go to take a bath, NO HOT Water whatsoever. DW extremely upset at this point. Speaks with manager who sends up engineering, sure enough there is no hot water coming in the faucets from the source. Manager offers to move them once again, but all are exhausted and declines. She is given a key to vacant room to use the facilities.
Next day before leaving for the park Manager calls and DW is offered a two room suite, but declines as aunt does not want to be in room together(for personal reasons because of age). Manager sets up two Character breakfasts and two dinners all inclusive for all four of them.....this was true Disney customer service.
We are frequent visitors to DL and the DLH, our experiences have been positive. Just a little perplexed at the conditions my DW encountered this trip.
