Age for girls to start wearing makeup?

I would say 7th grade for make-up. My DD is in the 8th grade (age 14) and hardly ever wears make-up because she said she's too lazy to put it on in the morning. All of her friends wear make-up -- some wear it lightly and some wear it wayyy overdone.

DD has a natural beauty. She's often been compared to a young Brook Shields. So, she can go without the make-up and be fine. However, when she wears light make-up her features are really drawn out. She is my "go against the grain" kind of girl though, so I guess she'll wear it daily when she's ready.

Her theory for not wearing make-up every day is that people would get used to seeing her with make-up on every day so much, that when a day would come that she didn't wear make-up she'd look ugly. But people don't think that about her now because they are used to seeing her without make-up.

My girls are 11 and 14. They only wear Glo Minerals powder as a concealer if they have a pimple. It hides the pimple and it gets rid of the shiny, oily look on their face.
I wouldn't allow any eyeliner, mascara or eye shadow at this age.

My aunts 9 year old has just gotten into makeup. Her mom was totally cool with me buying her a bunch from eyeslipsface.com Its all cheap makeup but it good products (heck, I bought some for me too)

My sixth grader has been wearing it for a year or so. No eyeliner, ick. But as long as eyeshadow etc is tastefully done, I'm letting her do it.

I've only had to correct her once. She had the seventies blue eyeshadow all the way up to her brows...too much.

I told my daughter she could start wearing makeup as soon as she was out of elementary school and starts Jr High. She will be 12/almost 13 at the time. I also said she could start to dye her hair at the same time if she wanted; she just couldn't do unnatural shades such as pink or blue.

My daughter will be starting Jr. High in Sept. They start in 6th grade here so she will be 10 in Jr. High....I am not sure I am ready for her to be walking out of the house with a full face of makeup but I really don't have a set age as to when she can start- if she is interested in it in Jr. High then I will take her someplace to show her how to put it on right ( I have NEVER worn any type of make-up, I can't stand the stuff). She has already dyed her hair blue this year so that phase is over LOL...she had the bottom 6 inches dyed bright blue for most of the school year.

I used to say 13, but now my DD11 is starting to have some skin issues, so I think I'm going to let her use concealer when she has pimples to cover because she is self-conscious about them.

Also, I plan to go in stages, and have recently allowed her to wear a lightly colored lip gloss. Next I think will be blush, a very light one. I think it's better to go in stages and teach them, rather than just a generic ok for makeup.

But, I have told her no makeup will be allowed until she starts to take better care of her skin! She HATES to wash her face for some reason. I am using makeup for leverage to get her to do this!

i was in middle school, probably around 7th or 8th grade. i think that's around 11 or 12, i just had some powder coverup and chapstick.

i started getting more into "makeup" when i was in high school.
