Age appropriate hair?

I am 36 and have long hair - it is almost to the middle of my back. I look awful in short hair and I prefer long hair. (love pony tails and buns!)
It has nothing to do with age - I had short hair when I was a kid and I hated it.

I don't think there is an "age limit" on hair. I have always said that I will NOT die with short curly hair!

So - you keep on doing your hair any way you want! :flower3:

I've always had long hair and I have no intentions of cutting it. I am 41.

I did cut it from waist-length to just below my shoulders (hits the bra-strap) and that's as short as I will go.

I look awful in short hair so TTTHHHHHHHHBBBBBSSSSSTTTTTTT.

If its healthy and it looks good and it makes you happy, who cares! Unhealthy long hair looks bad at every age. These ladies look stunning!

Faye Dunaway doesn't look fab in my opinion- not by a long shot. The others look great though- maybe if we all had a stylist to keep the grays away- a surgeon to keep the age away- and a trainer to keep the flab away.... ;)

I think you should get a cut that is flattering to you, good for your hair and at your level of wanting to put the effort into styling it.

I am 45, my hair is thick, shiny, healthy and I am not grey yet. I have it a bit past my shoulders. I don't color it anymore. Why the heck would I want it short?;)

Until recently I had no clue older woman weren't supposed to wear long hair. I had never heard of that in my life before. I have no intentions of going short.

I do live under a rock though -- to me if older woman can't wear longer hair then younger girls can't wear their hair short either. Could you imagine telling an 18 year old "I'm sorry you can't have short hair because you aren't over 40, therefore I'm not cutting it"?????????????????????

Wooo Fay needs a big trim in that pic !! Up to shoulders would be great lol.

I think Jane could also use a few inches cut off , it is very pretty, but I like the length of Raquel much better.

My big thing is professional hair looking hair if your are in the business world.

I have a friend that has longgg curly wavy hair it looks amazing, but she is mid 30s and it is starting to look like she is trying to be mid 20's again. She owns her own financial buisness, investments and such. Everytime I see her bill board I think she really needs to pull it back or up . Others have commented on it too.

My wife is 46 and has long hair. She is beautiful. She often wears her hair in a pony tail when it is warm. Why should age define a person?

Did I say that she is beautiful? :lovestruc

Wear your hair the way you want to.

I don't think there is really any such thing as "age appropriate" hair anymore. Unless you're 60 and dying it deep purple or pink.

Howeva'..... pink or purple at 60. Heck, they couldn't do it in their youth (wasn't around) They couldn't do it in their 20's thru 50's (have an imagine to maintain) - why not rock it at 60!?

There's a program online (don't even ask me where it was, I have no clue) where you could play with your hair color.

How do I look? :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

No? How about this?

I must've played with that thing for a good hour. It was fun.

I agree about Faye Dunaway.
I just have to ask. Who is "guessing" your age?
Good question!

There used to be a "thing" where once you hit 40, you were supposed to go with short hair. My mom was 35 when I was born (she's 87 now...do NOT do the math :scared:), and she has had the SAME short haircut that whole time. And if she had her way, I'd cut my hair and wear it curly just like her. :scared:

My hair is below my shoulders now (and I flatiron it), and a little longer than I'd like (my hairdresser is on maternity leave :scared:), but there's no way I'm going with a short cut. Color-wise, I'm seriously considering a dark auburn. I wouldn't do something too "crazy", but I don't think there's anything wrong with some fun experimenting.

Wear your hair the way you want to, I wouldn't worry about age appropriateness. Perhaps a bright red Mohawk won't go over well at the office but hair length, eh, who cares?

Fay has extensions.

Notice the shiny thickness at the ends, compared to her top.

Lemme eyeball the others for extensions.

Raquel looks fab- a longish shag if I'm not mistaken?

Yep. :thumbsup2

And if you click that link, you can see her modeling all her wigs, and let's face it - the woman cold be bald. She looks stunning in any length, color, etc.

I don't mean they did a poor job with the extensions. It just does NOT look good on her.

Yeah, no, I know. I actually meant they're tough to maintain and take care of. They're not as wash and go as you'd think. They're (IMO) a big PIA.

I had them from August 2008 - Dec 2008. I wasn't crazy about them. I had fun, when I had them - but I wouldnt do it again.

Who were you talking to my sister? :lmao: Wear your hair the way you want.

I am 43 and just went back to an edgy pixie cut after years of longer hair. I prefer my hair short. It is more flattering to my face, more in proportion to my body, and it is a lot easier to deal with. I didn't do it because "it was time". I did it because it works for me. The only problem is that it is once again much more expensive to maintain.

Well I am in my late 30s and have no intention of cutting my long hair short any time in the foreseeable future. Of course I will also wear white after Labor Day and sometimes wear sandals without polishing my toenails so I am just a fashion rebel (or disaster?) to some;)
