Age appropriate hair?

I would look horrible with short hair (like a poodle because of the curls! :scared1:)
There is a lady at work (manufacturing plant full of us guys with just 1 or 2 women..) that we called "Velcro". We always told her we were going to stick velcro up on the ceiling and toss her up there and leave her hanging. :lmao:

I don't think it is the length of the hair as much as it is the condition and cut of it.

Older women with long stringy dry hair, whether gray or another color...not good. Faye Dunaway is not flattered by that hair in the picture posted here a couple of pages back. The rest of those ladies are gorgeous.

On certain people, long hair can drag down the face, making one look older.
As stated previously, cut and condition are key to success.

I've used the B&B before and it wasn't quite *enough* if that makes sense? Right now I do use a Volumizing Mousse by Cibu and it is the best I've found but also isn't quite *enough* on its own. So I spray in some Graham Webb Thickening Spray into the roots and that seems to usually do the trick...except with the bad haircut I've been sporting since December...nothing is really doing it.

My other secret weapon is Redken Hots Sets. It is sprayed onto the hair after drying before curling. I used a flat iron though and have for several years now. I still use Hot Sets. No matter if my hair is jaw length, chin length or like now, top of shoulders. I get kidded a lot about "is your hair always perfect?" And while the answer is "no", usually I do not have "bad hair days", I think Hots Sets is why I do not have many.

I've always joked and said if they ever stop making it, I'll stop doing hair. And, I may not be joking. ;)

I certainly would not want to do "old lady hair" (like a bubble, ) without it.

Alright - do not be giving out the Hot Sets secret!

:rotfl: I know, right? It has been around for years but I still think it the best thermal setting spray money can buy. I still use it--even when using a flat iron and I do not use the flat iron spray that I'm supposed to!:headache:

But seriously, if your hair doesn't hold your style, get you some Hot Sets! That's my tip of the day. ;)

One reason they do that is because of thinning. My grandmother had to do that and I know many women in their late 50's to 60s now that are dealing with thinning hair so the longer, straight style they've been sporting for years doesn't work. The god-awful perm at least fluffs it up so they can cover some of the scalp that is showing.

Which is fine, as long as you NEVER go out in bright sunlight. It's really horrible if you have dark hair, but even with a light color, it still shows.
I had an epiphany about this while on a WDW bus, or all places. There was an older lady sitting in front of me who had tried that tack to hide the thinning. Backlit by the sun, she looked COMPLETELY bald; the outline of her skull was clearly visible. At that moment, I vowed NEVER to try teasing or perming as camouflage for the thinning.

Really, a blunt cut works best for thin hair. Dry it upside-down and put a tiny bit of voluminizing product on it, but don't put actual space between your scalp and your hair. Every light you pass will make it glariingly obvious. If it is so bad that you have noticable gaps when your hair is not teased up, then it is time to go with wigs or scarves/hats.

(I can't believe you told people about Hot Sets. I thought that was one of the vows that was taken as a stylist?? Not to ever tell anyone about Hot Sets!?!?)

Since Brenda already spilled **shake fist** - Hot Sets is a kick butt root lifter, flat iron spray, and most of all, holds a curl like nobodies business (I remember my first use of Hot Sets, having NO clue how well it would work.... ..... my hair was so OBNOXIOUSLY big, it was ridiculous. Then I thought "Well, it will fall" - No, it won't! LOL!) Awesome stuff.

That being said - if I do my hair curly/wavy - I don't even bother unless I have Hot Sets. :thumbsup2

It's probably good you mentioned it. I think the only people buying it are stylists, and we certainly don't want them to discontinue it. :)

ETA - Brenda, do you come up for the America's Beauty Show? If you do, we really should meet for a quick *Hello* next year.
