By sheer luck, I was able to get an ADR for the afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian in November. I've always wanted to try it. I was thinking of getting the Buckingham as that has a little of everything. I've tried looking, but I can find out anything about the sandwiches.

What type are they?

Would it be possible to get all of just one kind?

Thanks

I know I have ordered two of the roasted pear sandwiches and two of something else as I can't eat shrimp or whatever other sandwiches they serve. I think they will work with you.

You are going to love the Afternoon Tea, both of my DDs and I do this while dad goes off and does something else :goodvibes. As for the sandwiches, you get the roasted pear sandwich which is awesome, an egg salad sandwich, a sort of seafood salad sandwich (forget what is inside but is very good), and I want to say there is one more but my mind is not working right now, have to go get another cup of coffee :rotfl:. Go to allears.net and go to their restaurant reviews you can look up the tea there and see what the different sandwiches are. Have a great time and congrats on your ADR.

Is there a dress code? I'll be coming from MK. It depends on weather but it'll be shorts or jeans unless there is a dress code.

When I attended the tea in Sept 2010 the sandwiches were shrimp salad, chicken salad, egg salad and pear & gorgonzola I believe.

As I don't like egg salad and I am allergic to gorgonzola, I always request 2 shrimp salad and 2 chicken salad. They've never had a problem with it :)

You will see people dressed in all sorts of outfits. My girls and I usually wear nice capris and a dressy top. Then I have seen other guests wear fancy dresses and then I have seen people in regular shorts and jeans come in. There is no formal dress code like going to the Signature restaurants, dress in whatever feels right to you.

the sandwiches when i was there last year were:
egg salad, smoked salmon, pear and gargonzola, cucumber, and chicken curry i think.

1) The short answer is "Yes".
2) You can request all the sandwiches to be of one type.
3) But, hey, its and adventure.
4) Try all the types.

They do still serve cucumber sandwiches. One poster mentioned it, above. I had them in May. I always ask for a substitute for whatever seafood sandwich they have, as I don't eat seafood.

GF for our tea service. I am so excited about this and seriously, so was DH. We were the first ones seated in this beautiful room at the front of the GF ground floor.

DH took the booth side and I the chair side, I had a gorgeous view of these live flowers

There was a lot of couples there, many big men with these little delicate cups.

We each ordered the Buckingham Palace. We each got a pot of tea, DH chose the vanilla roobios which was heavenly. They served his in a pressed pot

I opted for the Mad Hatter, a passionfruit, pomegrante and vanilla blend. It was so good. I had the ceramic tea pot and the cozy to keep it warm.

We were given a plate with 5 finger sandwiches and one onion jam tartlette. The pear and gorganzola on brown bread was very good. Chicken salad, shrimp salad, egg salad and watercress. Amazing stuff, the shrimp salad was the best. The server said that you can opt for one over the other or omit on and sub another...whatever you like you can do. DH surprised me as he loved all the items.

Next course was the scone with devonshire cream and strawberry jam and a raspberry tartlette. I did not like the tartlette, it was super tart but DH loved it. The scone was so light and flaky and melt in your mouth fantastic that we wanted more and more. We lathered it with the devonshire cream and strawberry jam and we just melted.

Here is a large tray of the tartlettes on the table as you walk in

Final course is the option of strawberries and cream or 2 pastries. I chose the strawberries and cream. WOW they were fantastic, very cool and sweet and the fresh cream was to die for.

DH opted for the chocolate dipped strawberries and the tiramisu cup. Both were fantastic.

Here is a pic of the pastry tray that you see when you walk in. Lots of great stuff!

We were there for 75 minutes and never felt rushed or uncomfortable. We each polished off the pots of tea and all the food...we were so stuffed! DH said that he loved it and felt very relaxed and would go back again for sure.

As I can't eat the seafood or egg sandwiches - I guess I'll have the cucumber if I have the sandwiches at all.

Thanks for all the responses :goodvibes
