Will be taking 2 grandaughters, my daughter, and my MIL, and myself to afternoon tea at GF! 6mo to 80 years. Is there any dress code? We will be coming from MK. Do you spend whle time at tea(2-4:30)? Any info appreciated!!!

We did this several years ago on our honeymoon and I wore shorts. I don't know if that's what most people do, though.

From what I remember, you can arrive anytime during the tea time and leave when you are done.

Hope this helps.

I went with my 9yr. old dd last summer. We were staying at the GF, so we freshened up before going. We did wear shorts, as did everyone else who was there. It is such a nice experience. You pick from a menu all diff. types of teas. We both chose the ice teas and it came with a few diff. types of sandwiches, little pastrys and strawberries and cream. Like the above poster said, you can get there anytime during tea time, although, we had ressies, there were quite a few walk ins. We were there under an hour(there was only the 2 of us) and then we left. I was alittle leary about wearing shorts there, because I heard it was somewhat fancy, but luckily we did wear them ,because I took notice and every person in there wore shorts and t'shirts.

Just a note on walking in - DH and I tried to do this on our honeymoon and were turned away. They were mobbed. I tried calling for a PS for anytime that week and they were completely booked. Next trip we got a PS and the place was a ghost town! You never know, so better safe than sorry - get yourself a PS before you go!
By the way, if you have the time, do dress up - it adds to the fun! We saw some really adorable little girls in dresses who were just thrilled to be drinking their "tea" (chocolate milk) in such lavish surroundings!

We always take the time to go to the tea at the GF. There are 3 seatings, 2:00, 3:15 and 4:30.
You are not rushed, there is a nice selection of teas, sandwiches, and desserts....I love the scones.
The dress is causal, most people are just coming from the parks, so there is no need to worry about feeling out of place. There was a group there last year, that were dressed up, but I think that it was a bridal shower, otherwise shorts and a nice shirt are the norm.
I recommend making a ps for one of the seatings, especially if you are going during a busy time of year. Like merrywether, I've been there when it was packed and when there only 2 other tables being used.
