I'm headed to back to Disney in about 2 1/2 weeks and on a whim, decided to make a ADR to the GF Afternoon Tea. I've never done this before, so, if you have, what is appropriate dress. I'm thinking that because it is Disney it is still ok to be casual, but I don't want to show up in pants and a shirt and find everyone else wearing hats!

Also, if you have been, what is good? I saw they had several menu options. I'm just looking for some suggestions.

Thanks for the help...

Resort casual is appropriate for tea. Some people might dress up if that is how usually travel, but resort casual is the way to go.

I wore what I was going to wear to the parks...pants and a tank top. :) You don't have to dress up.

I really loved the afternoon tea. Make sure you try the scones. :sunny: They come with jam and devonshire cream. I also had a mini carrot cake which was my favorite. Then I had a pastry in the shape of a swan. It was filled with a vanilla cream and was SO delicious. My mom and I split the tea sandwiches but didn't really care for them. We both tried a mini chocolate eclair and it was very good. It was so hard to choose what we wanted because everything looked so delicious. :goodvibes

Have a great time! :cool1:

I agree - casual is acceptable.

As for what to order, it was all amazing. I had the grand tea or whatever it is called. It started with champagne and tea sandwiches. The tea sandwiches were eggsalad, chickensalad, duck something or other, and seafood something or other. I liked all the non-seafood ones and my mom enjoyed my seafood sandwhich.

Next comes the scones, cream and jam. All I can say is YUM!

Finally is pastries. All were delicous. My sister had pastries as well. My mom had the strawberries and cream - it looks incredible! Overall, it was all delicous.

I went in dressy shorts and a blouse once and felt underdressed. It's my experience that most people dress a little nicer, maybe capris and a blouse or a sundress for women and chino's and a golf shirt for men.

You will see some drseed even more, and others looking like they should be cleaning the garage, but my experience is resort casual is the attire of choice.

Tea is one of those spots that you may encounter people dressed in nicer clothing than park wear. You will, however, have people dressed in park wear and everything in between. GF Tea seems to be popular with locals, so you will see people there for a nice lunch, showers, etc. Resort casual should be just fine. Enjoy too, it is so good!!

We did this in December of 2003. We saw people dressed up like a formal tea party, but we also saw people dressed casual/nice and even a few in shorts and tshirts that came straight from the parks. It's a wonderful experience. Don't let the clothing thing throw ya'! Maggie

When we went (DH, DD8, DS9) we came right from MK and wore our "best" shorts and nice short sleeved shirts (polos). While at MK that morning, DD wanted to spend her allowance on a sundress from the Caribbean-type store near Pirates of the Caribbean. It was only $20 and she felt more comfortable having dressed up for the tea...but it was not necessary.

Make sure to ask your server to purchase some of the tea before you leave - not cheap, but lasts a long time. We bought the cinnamon spice and Garden View blend and I made a pot of each every Sunday throughout our cold New England winter.

Woooo! This a great idea. I wish I knew of it last year. I am going to have to do it this year. THANKS! :flower:

One time was just before MVMCP, the other just before MNSSHP. My wife and I were dressed casual, nice shirts and shorts. We were fine. Others dress up, especially the groups that come in to spend a day shopping/looking at the decorations.

With Christmas coming, it's best to have a ressie for afternoon tea.
